Does blogging bring business?

A couple of months ago my cell phone rang. I am staring at the number not recognizing the incoming call, with Trudy telling me to answer it. I noticed she recently does exactly the same, which is funny as she has to put on her glasses to see the numbers. anyway, I digress. There is a young lady on the phone who introduces herself and indicates that she found me through my blog on Active Rain about foreclosures and would like help buying a foreclosure property.

We talked for a while about what she was actually looking for and why and I got her contact details. Of course this was after explaining the Consumer Notice to her. Anyway it turned out that really what she and her husband wanted was really a property to buy, do some repairs and then flip. I explained that therefore a foreclosure property was probably not the right property for her, but we would be very willing to help them find the right property.

Trudy started working with them, and they developed a good rapport and saw several homes together, some we found and some they found, usually in areas that were outside our usual work area. However, eventually they zeroed in on a property that Trudy found for them and put together an agreement of sale. After some negotiations the agreement was signed and a home inspection was arranged. This then provided some more negotiation and a final agreement was reached. Mortgage was arranged, appraisal was done and settlement concluded. And a few days later we got our share from our broker.

Does blogging bring business? Yes. Pay per hour may be low, but who knows it is all marketing and gives clients a chance to check you out in a different way and get to know you through your writing as well.

Am I happy, yes and I will continue blogging. So be encouraged, there are buyers out there and they are reading your posts.

It's another great avenue to get yourself out there.

I think it is another avenue and best of all it is FREE.  Just think how many Realtors out there do not even know about this reward from blogging.  Congratulations and keep it up.

Thank you all for the encouragement. I got another call this week from a lady who wants to see some units in a condo complex I have written about. she actually siad when she called I saw your name when I was researching these units. Well I have them on my website, and on a page on my website but I can only think they came up in a search from my blog about them. maybe I am wrong, I will find out when we meet.

Do you all think blogging on Active Rain is enough, or should you have a seperate blogging site? There is an article in the Philadelphia Inquirer this weekend edition about realtors blogging.
