I had to post these pictures here because they really are unbelievable unless you see them.  I have included some of these pictures in other blogs, but I have never put them all together.  The pictures below are all from one house... and it was being lived in.  This really shows some of the limitations we encounter while inspecting a house.  I can't see through walls, and I can't see through clothes and junk either.

I just wrote a blog complaining that agents don't include enough pictures on the MLS when they list a home. This one would be an exception!! It is amazing to see home some people live. Hopefully the buyers got this house for dirt cheap.

Joseph,  Isn't there a TV show about these kinds of homes ?

Holy cow.  I can never believe how believe live like this.  Actually, I caught Ophra's show yesterday and today; they were featuring hoarders and the various psychological dysfunctions that accompany that trait.  This woman's home looked like the photos above but worse, if you can believe that.

Still and all, it blows my mind how anybody could or would exist in these conditions.

Back up the truck.  This one is going to cost money to dump.

Surely, no agent would list this property for sale in this condition.  Surely.

Todd, good point.

Frank, check out my other blogs, I've got more.  One of the best is The worse closet I've ever seen!

Bill, if not, I'll be the host.

Antoinette, there's an old saying, "you can be poor but you don't have to be dirty."  This was in a decent neighborhood besides.

Lenn, yes they would, and don't call me Shirley  ;-)

Holy toledo. So, I take it somebody bought this? At least they left you with enough access under the kitchen sink to look for leaks. Yikes. At first I thought maybe this was an after photo from a disaster, like maybe a hurricane. Or else one helluva party. This is simply incredible, and it beats my photos of dead squirrels all to bits.

I just gave an estimate for a house that was abandoned for 3 years and had over 30 animals cages with old, used bedding and other left overs....I wish I could describe the smell.  Great pics.  We see this type of stuff too.  Just give us a call before you need to do your inspection :)

Stagers, any suggestions?!!  Ironically, I just returned home from meeting a professional stager at my new listing.  It's a dream compared to this nightmare....

Joseph, To me this kind of crap is fairly common.  One out of every ten to fifteen inspections look like this.  What in the H are people thinking?  Who in their right mind would even think of making an offer?  And these places are horrible to inspect.  Crawl spaces are often no different than inside the house.

Elizabeth, I looked all over your blogs for pictures of dead squirrels but couldn't find them...

Eric, you need to bring a camera and start snapping some photos.

Norma, congratulations on your new listing!

David, luckily it's uncommon for me.

You would think Listing Agents would tell the clients they need to have stuff away from walls at least.  How's the termite guy supposed to do his thing?  The buyer really gets a poor deal on this type of home.
