Work Harder not Smarter

By
Mortgage and Lending with Mortgage Magic

Every person in sales has heard the adage “Work Smarter not Harder.”

I think that phrase has been the downfall of many sales people. Every endeavor that is worth pursuing requires hard work. In every sales endeavor you are going to come up against competition. You may never see your competitor but everyone is chasing the same customer. If you are a Realtor there are hundreds of other Realtors right around you who want the same listing. If you sell insurance, mortgages, photocopiers…if you sell anything there is tremendous competition for the customer.

Begin by working hard. That means you need a coach or to become your own coach. You need a guidance system to direct you toward your success.

Design your own program for sales success. Make a list of things to do…choices.

Choose to give up one bad habit or one thing that does not lead to your success. Perhaps it could be reducing the time in front of the TV set (yes, that includes dropping some sports programs). Choose to maximize your health habits. Hi Energy is a salespersons best friend. Analyze the hours you actually work and determine to work more hours. Study your product. Build your enthusiasm. Build a desire to win and succeed.

Many of the comments above are general but it can boil down to – find ways to work harder. Work more hours. Work Hard.

You have to do both.  Work harder and smarter to survive in this market.  Best Regards,

I agree with that Doug. The smartest plan is the best plan but if you dont work it hard it might as well be the dumbest plan.

I also think consistency is key...some people work hard and burn out with a resulting "gotta take a break"...once momentum is lost, all that hard work can quickly be wiped out. So the plan needs to include some consistency benchmarks as well. I think all three are key; find the balance among: hard work, smart work and consistent work, and you'll find success.

Great advice.  Keeping away from your home is a great idea too.  Too many distractions are found in the place you live.
