I saved $20 a month by going fluorescent

I just switched 16 light bulbs in my house last month to fluorescent bulbs.  My bill dropped about $20.  I also put my hot water heater on a timer.  I only run it twice a day.  Once in the morning and once in the afternoon.  I have never had a cold shower yet.  It also dropped my bill by another $20.  It cost me about $100 to put the timer on.  I got the light bulbs at the dollar store.  They paid for themselves in the first month.

Let me know how you do.

I did the same with the bulbs - they all started burning out after less than a year??? Then I threw them away, and went back to my regular bulbs, which I like much better. I recently watched a special on TV about the mercury in the fluorescent bulbs and I had no idea that they should be disposed of as hazard material.

So instead... I started turning off my computers, TV's and all the other electrical that we don't use that often.

Good for you though!

Always look for ways to save but fluorescent lighting would give me a constant headache. So that won't work. The hot water heater issue, humm, don't think we use so much that it makes that much of a difference for us. But you have good ideas for some folks. All the best.

I am sold, I am going fluorescent!  I love to save on my bills and this is something that you can always share with your clients, let them know how much you saved.

Thank You

Hey, I duck taped my windows shut...YOU KNOW, WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS.... and my electric bill went from $235.00 a month to $135.00 in the summer and around $85.00 in the winter, yes here in Florida...

We changed out most of our light bulbs recently to florescent. Its an easy way to start going green.
