All of these computer based classes are extremely popular and due to their success Precinct 3 has adopted the following rules as per their web site:

“Due to the overwhelming demand for Senior Education Center courses as well as external requirements placed on the operation of the Center, special application processes have been developed to fairly and efficiently assign prospective students to classes.

  • Eligible senior citizens must apply in person for a Senior Education Center course during special application periods.  When application periods are scheduled, announcements will be posted in Precinct Three community centers, released to area newspapers and posted on the Senior Education Program activities calendar.
  • Consistent with the County Attorney's Office guidelines, eligible applicants are assigned to classes on a random number basis.
  • Written notices will be sent to participants when they are scheduled for a course.  The notice will include the dates and times of the course and a copy of the course rules and regulations.
  • Precinct Three reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any class due to exigent circumstances or availability of facilities, instructors, or staff.”

Dale and Joni,

Again thank you folks so much for all of your comments. I think computer classes in general are very important and I support efforts to teach Seniors who might not know how to send E-mails and correspond with out of town relatives.

Good Evening Bob,

It is important for cities across the country provide these classes for residents.  A more computer literate community is a more effective community.  Kudos to Katy.
