Top 10 things best things about being a real estate appraiser in Florida..

By
Real Estate Agent with Certified Residential Appraiser- West Palm Beach Real Estate

Ok, So I'm trying to write more about real estate. Enough about me.  With a hint of sarcasm, here are some the best parts of being an appraiser.. (let's stick with the positive, ok?)

Ok, A top 10 David Letterman drumroll please... Top 10 best things about being an appraiser

#10. You get to intrude into peoples homes and get ideas from their decorating, toys, etc. cool! This includes mack-daddy million dollar cribs! yoo hooo Holla at ya boy!!

#9. While taking pictures of comps, you get offered all kinds of goodies while people flag you down in the street.. unless they want to shoot you for taking pictures of their new home.

#8. No two days are the same.. some are way more fun than others. (see #9 and #6)

#7. You don't have to wear a tie and you can enjoy your pimped ride a lot, like 1,000 miles per week sometimes. yikes!

#6. You don't have to smile and kiss butt, unless a cop asks you why your driving circles in the neighborhood.

#5. You do the job and get paid. No other external factors affect your pocket.

#4. Your math skills improve as everything from car payments to mortgage are divisible by about $325.  -"Oh thats just like 2 appraisals"

#3. You can play on the computer all day and call it work. just kidding, bloggers. ;)

#2. People love you so much they call you all day long for your super-duper reports. -"Where's my report!"

and the number 1 reason to be a real estate apprasier in Florida is...

#1. You get to say, "it is what it is" a lot.

So there you go.. a feeble attempt to make this blog a little more about real estate.
Hope it brings you a smile on this start of the workweek.

Hmmmm....I'm thinking it's maybe not specific to Florida. =)  i like #1.  but i hope you're the kind of appraiser who actually listens to us agents if we beg to differ (as long as we're polite about it). =)

Hey folks.. thanks for stopping by and commenting. :)

Hi Leigh, in normal practice, sometimes I have contact with Realtors and sometimes I dont. If I do, I always tell them, "I will consider any sales you have as comparables" (which doesn't mean tell me what comps to use,).. and I always listen to what they say about that market area, as there are things that you can't derive from the MLS. Once the report is emailed though... it's done. Sounds a little harsh, but CYA.. you know? I also tell people who are refinancing to write up a 'brag sheet' and to give it to me at the end of the inspection. I normally catch most of the details, and that sets people's mind at ease. Bottom line, be nice and you get nice back. ;)

Thanks Christopher.. I like it too, but I'm normally sensitive to when to use it. Sometime its better to stay quiet.

Thanks Cynthia.. mission accomplished. you smiled! cute doggie!!

Hi David. I hear ya brother. Of course that statement (#5) relfects once I'm engaged to do the service. I get paid at the door or ahead of time. There is no stopping then! cha-ching!  I guess that #5 comes from a few deals that blow up at the 11th hour due to circumstances out of my control.

Nick good stuff. I'm just so glad I don't have your job. Ony one I'm in the entire post! That's something I have a real big problem with as well. I am an "I" man to the max. 5 just in this comment. Tried writing a post just now with no "I"s in it and could not do it.

Thanks for stopping by.. I appreciate your comments.

Hi Allison.. yes, that is true.. only appr's are gathering our nuts one at a time, while realtors get a truckload delivered. beeeep beeeep  goes the truck on reverse.  Now if this little appr could get realtor checks as often as appr check, well then.. my name would be BB!  plus you getter waves up there in 407 area.. Patrick Air force base.. yoo hooooo

Hey Lee,.. actually its pretty easy. Just show them all the research (MLS sheets) and whip out the appr license.. and tell them "I'm and appraiser on assignment & shooting comps you stinky ruthless big brother animal, you".. ok, maybe without the last part after the word 'you'.  Plus there are a bunch of pictures on the camera from the subject property. But I have been stopped.. no biggie. I grew up in Miami.. I know the whole game.  BTW, if I'm doing a little research in a not-so-great area, I pull a bunch of MLS's, jot some notes on them like I talked to Realtors and its my pass GO free in case I'm questioned or stopped. :)

Big Broker Bryant.. surely you jest.. dont you wanna trade? big fat commish's VS. running around like a chicken with no head. haha, it's funny even typing it!  Nick wanna be like you when Nick grows up., just a shorter, lighter version though.  cha-ching!

Hey William.. thanks.. hope it made you smile! :)

Hey TLW, the pimper car, a.k.a. 'the hooptie' has "twirling hubcabs", the only poblem is that they aren't supposed to spin. <:0
I likes to drive it SILLY!  :))

Hey Ramsey, this past 2 weeks there were several jumbo loan orders. I didnt get to see the 10 million dollar home with private Casino on the 3rd floor, with balcony overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway and get this. there was a 3 stall bathroom, so no wait time to 'filter the liquid bread'.  I guess the 10 million dollar man lives there.. :))  but yes.. i shall post some pictures sometime.. other posts in my head are still in the queue.  Thanks for stooping by. enjoyed your post on setting goals for the new year..

ohh ohh.. just before I hit the submit button, I will do a reverse version,. with the crappiest homes you could imgine... NOT!
