Focus, Focus, Focus - Real Estate Agent Training TipsHow's that New Year's resolution working out for you?  As we approach the end of January I just wanted to check in to see if you are still on track with those resolutions you made just a few short weeks ago.

Have You Fallen Off The Wagon?

Although I am an optimist, I would have to say that you have probably fallen out the wagon...if not totally, than a little.  I'm here to remind you to focus, focus, focus.  If you plan on achieving those goals you just set, than you have to keep your eye on the prize.  Success doesn't just happen, it takes planning and work.  Not necessarily hard work, but productive, focused work.

Let's revisit some basic activities that successful real estate agents are doing right now...and you should too!

Making Telephone Calls

Yes, email is a lot easier, but it is also a lot easier for the person on the other end to ignore you.  Think about how you respond when you receive an email from someone.  You mentally decide if you even need to open it, then if you do open it you decide to either delete it, respond, or ignore it...telling yourself you'll "respond later"; and later never comes.  Pick up the phone, it doesn't bite and talk to someone who might actually buy or sell real estate.

Sign Up For Floor Duty

I know your home office is comfy, cozy, but no one is knocking on your door looking to buy or sell real estate.  Get up, get dressed and get into your office and see if you can get some new leads.  Selling real estate is your job...your business; you need to work your business.

Hold Open Houses

Of course you would probably hold your own listings open, but if you don't have any listings, ask agents in your office if they need help.  I'm guessing that they would be more than happy to have you hold an open house for them.  Just one thing, make sure you agree ahead of time on if your name and phone number will be on the marketing materials and who will keep the leads.

Get Out Of Your Comfort Zone

Only you know the things you don't like doing...I'm asking you to do those things!  If you want to take your business to the next level, you have to do activities you wouldn't ordinarily do. It could be going door to door introducing yourself to a community, it could be going to an event where you don't know a single person, or it could be something as simple as calling people in your sphere of influence that you haven't spoken to in years.

Successful Real Estate Agents Work

Some of these things may be difficult, but if you are looking to be a successful real estate agent, you need to focus on activities that will bring you immediate results.  You can't sit back and wait for something to happen...you need to make something happen everyday!

Jimmy thanks for reposting Candy's blog there is so much valuable information here that I can use.  As Candy says it is very important to get out of your comfort zone and make that phone call instead of the email, and knock on that door instead of a letter mailed
