Motivational Power Quote

Average is a Choice – Exceptional is a Mission

“Not doing more than the average is what

keeps the average down.”

William M. Winans  1824 -1887 author

As I see it . . . . . . .

Average is a choice – exceptional is a mission

The big difference between average and exceptional is passion and dedication to be the best.

The question is:

What will move you into the exceptional category in your profession?

What would you have to do differentially in the future to become and remain exceptional?

Would you being willing to pay the price to become a standout in your profession and a recognized leader?

In the Major League Baseball a profession baseball player that gets one hit every four times at a bat can make a living playing baseball.

The baseball player that gets one hit every three times at bat becomes a multi millionaire and has a big opportunity to elected into Baseballs Hall of Fame.

As a business professional we have to find the thin slice between getting one hit in four times at bat and one hit in three times at bat.

The difference is our mental preparation to get better and standout.

Average is a choice – exceptional is a mission. Exceptional is in our passion to be the best and dedication to reach the top of our profession.

Lou: Great reminder about choices.  We don't consciously choose to be average, but if we don't consciously choose not to be, nothing will change.  Thanks for sharing!

I like what you had to say Lou, and Andrew too, nothing will change if we don't do something about not being average.

Good morning, Lou....great post.... one has to be passionate about what he/she does in order to be exceptional at it.....no passion leads to average, at best....

If you are going to anything, why not commit to doing it extraordinary? I guess average is OK, but a choice not to play at that level.
