I have said for a long time now that the camaraderie that I experienced during my 17 years with the LAPD has not shown itself much during the past 10 years working in the Real Estate venue.
I still remained a Level 1 Reserve Officer, so I am blessed with being able to go and train, teach, and work alongside the men and women that I used to work with full time.
Paris and I are looking for some property in San Francisco. We are not sure when would be the best time to buy (as no one is...) but sometime in the near future. So we need a contact there. I looked around active rain, left a couple of messages, and did not receive any call backs. No worries, I thought, I will just wait it out. 3 more days went by and though I resisted having to "have it now", that whole instant gratification thing, I caved in and filled out a form on the internet. Thinking I was going to be bombarded with calls, I received one e-mail that told me that a lady by the name of Anna Spathis with Zephyr Real Estate in San Francisco, would be calling me. It was no sooner that I was finished reviewing that e-mail on my pda, when my cellular phone rang. The area code was (415) - San Francisco.
I answered the phone and there was a lady that introduced herself as Anna Spathis with Zephyr Real Estate. I explained our plans and she gave me very detailed explanations about San Francisco and the areas we were interested in. She continued to offer information about how things worked in Real Estate and how her company is "great and on the cutting edge".
Here is the deal, I called in inquire about a property, I never expressed moving my family to San Francisco, this was pure assumption on her part.
Now here is where I was absolutely impressed... She further explained that during our trip there, maybe Paris and I could stop by their office and sit in on one of their office meetings. And during the same week we can go and see a few properties. She had me from the point of her assumption. Her expression of the "Team" concept was totally unsolicited and was revealed in her un-selfish presentation of her company and how she thinks that they are the "top-end" of the San Francisco Real Estate community. What a testament! She, not only invited another competitor into the arena, but she did so with no reservations and with her company by her side.
In this Real Estate world where there are a bunch of independent contractors working to get more and more. It is gratifying to know that there are still a few agents out there that truly carry the poignant title "Realtor®" knowing the true meaning of the word. Some of you have been at this Real Estate game a lot longer than I. You have seen this market and others that I haven't even broken the binding on. I am of the same mindset that was conveyed to me during my phone call, that there is enough business for everyone. Even though it is hard to apply, I truly believe that if we want "abundance" we can have abundance without regard to our circumstances.
Thank you Anna for demonstrating the "Team Spirit" concept with your exhibition of unselfishness.
