Ok, first off all let me say that I LOVE the Holidays.  For my family, we celebrate Thanksgiving & usually shop the day after.  We enjoy Christmas Eve & Christmas Day with family and then have a little family tradition on New Year's Eve.  Ok, for us... that's FOUR days.

I don't understand how a business like real estate can nearly come to a screeching halt around Halloween and last until the middle of January or later?

For my clients, I always recommend buying & selling during the "Holidays"!  BUYERS, you get more choices because less buyers buy this time of year.  SELLERS, you have more serious buyers to consider your home because there is less competition on the market!  Not to mention, BUYERS that are looking this time of year are usually not KICKING TIRES!

Now, let's get out there & take some listings for MOTIVATED SELLERS & write some purchase agreements for MOTIVATED BUYERS!  Let the negotiations begin!

By the way... HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

I agree, too many people make it out to be a third of the year gone, but you are right its a few days!

Scott:  I really shouldn't complain... I kinda like it when people ask me if I'm the ONLY agent working through the holidays! I sheepishly answer... yeah, I think so!  :)

I agree! I think people don't want the hassle of the deal or moving during this time. They want stability now, maybe it is a hibernation type thing more so winter than the holidays?

Sue-I agree with you.  This is a great time of year to buy and sell. We are actually listing our house on Monday. We had actually hoped to have it on the market by yesterday, but those last minute little to do's held us up.  We are figuring with family in town that may be thinking of relocating, we can do an open house.  Who knows what can happen.

Todd & Danielle:  That is probably the biggest obstacle.  It's not that they don't want to SELL this time of year... they don't want to MOVE this time of year.  That's when you negotiate a later closing or a closing with a short term lease back option right?

Julie:  Good for you.  Great example of "if I can do it Mr. & Mrs. Seller, you can do it"!!  I know you'll be successful in your sale because you have the absolute BEST agent in UTAH working for you!!

Sue, You are right!  It is a great time for buyers and sellers.  I am ready for negotiations and that would make for happy holidays!

My assoicate and I were just having this discussion the other day.  WE could be really busy or really slow.  It is up to us to make it happen.

Roberta:  What better way to give thanks right?

Melanie:  You are absolutely correct. It's all about the mindset.

I am not complaining, I love it when most of the agents feel like Christmas starts at Halloween and they don't get back to work until after the new year.   I know one particular agent who thinks the 4th of July lasts 2 weeks.

Jeff:  That's funny!  I think I'm going to start celebrating Groundhogs Day, take a few weeks off! :)

Don't let the cat out of the bag.   I need about 1300 realtors in my market to start celebrating more holidays.  2 weeks for July 4, 4 months for Christmas, what other holidays can we convince them of, how about Monday, Friday and Wednesday?

This is all too true.  It's funny because I do some of my best business in the months of November and December.  If no other mortgage loan officers are out there doing business that's fine just send me all of the loans.  lol

Hey Steak!  I thought about not mentioning it, but realized most people aren't working right now to realize what I've said anyway!  Thanks for stopping by!

LOL!  This is true!  We can mention it but those same people will think we are crazy or workaholics.  All the way to the bank!

It really does't make much sense. I try harder during the Holiday period and before and it has its rewards...

I like the idea about other agents celebrating Ground hog day, the 4th, Washington's B'day and so forth... gotta promote that!

Hey Sue, You gotta love Realtors, with all their self fulfilling prophecies. I hear a wise statement on a regular basis, If you believe you can, you're right, and if you believe you can't...Right again...I have learned to look for the one deal, the one buyer who really believes we can get it done. And then  we can do just that..get it done............There is still time to make this a better year!!!!!!!!!!!!11
