Why I Like Being a Pinhead, You Should Too
During a presentation to some business owners this week, once again the topic of Pinterest came up. Seems since having Kelly Lieberman on my radio show, The Social Studmuffin, Pinterest has really been on my radar. Seems Pinterest is taking the country by storm, and with good reason. Pinterestoffers so much in the way of sharing, sharing in a visual, broad manner.
Pinterest can be used for sharing information about who you are, what makes you tick, and what interests you. You can pretty much tell whatever story you want, as much as or as little information as you choose. The possibilities are limitless, and only hindered by your imagination. Check out what my friend Anne has done with one of herPinterest boards, amazing. Or check out Kelly’s board “Beyond Words” so much cool info available, how can you not be inspired to create a board for yourself to tell the world who you are. Share new gift ideas, shopping ideas, the list goes on and on.
Pinterest is a great tool for businesses as well. I cannot believe how much fun I have had with it creating boards for my clients. If you can find the info on the net, you can pin it to a board. Lets think about different ways to use Pinterest. Interior designers, home stagers, auto mechanics, life coaches, real estate agents, tourist groups, Chamber of Commerce, sports teams…The limit is your imagination. Here’s a board I created to honor one of my favorite people, Grace Kelly. I like seeing that board, it reminds me how cool I thought she was. I am starting one for Sir Winston Churchill and Teddy Roosevelt, my two favorite people in history. With that in mind do you think that a school report could be done within Pinterest. There’s a challenge for teachers who are into utilizing social media and it’s tools in their teaching routines. Are you open enough to use it?
At the moment Pinterest is still in beta and you will need an invite to join, follow me onTwitter and send me a tweet asking for an invite and I will oblige. If you already have a Pinterest page and would like some help in applying it to your business, contact me on Twitter and I will be available.
