GOOD DEEDS FOR THE HOLIDAYS "THE LORD'S WAY"

By
Real Estate Agent with Weichert Referral Associates

The holiday season is upon us, and one good thing about that is that many, many people will go out of their way to do some good deed or help a charity and even if is is something only done once a year it is still something positive in someones life. So what does the Lord have to say about this.

MATHEW6:1Take heed that ye do not your alms(charitable deeds)before men. to be seen of them; otherwise ye have no reward of your father which is in heaven.

MATHEW 6:4That thine alms may be in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

Now I,m not saying that high profile charitable things are a bad thing. Our heavenly Father knows your heart and the reason why we do things and sometimes things done for the purest of reasons do bring attention and even accolades so buy all means we should do as many good and charitable deed as we possibly can.

But I am posing a chalenge to each and every one of us. This holiday season try going out of your way to do a good deed for someone in a way that noone except you and the Lord  know who did it. I am willing to wager that it will be one of the most gratifying acts of your life.

                                    God Bless You

Hugh:  I'm totally in agreement with you...but I think that we have to make a lotta noise to get some people to get off their comfortable sofas and do something. I'm all about people doing their good deed privately...as long as they actually do something for someone else. I hate complacency.

Remember what the Lord said to the Church in Laodicea? Revelation 3:14-22 GREAT scripture...powerful!!

I'm so glad to know you, brother!! You remind me of Peter (the disciple!).  ;-)

Hugh,

Great post...and very true.  While there are times even if you do not want your charity publicized, we live in a very electronic and instantaneous time.

I hope we all take the time to truly give from the heart without the need to be told they are doing a good deed....that recognition will be there on judgement day...where we will need it the most.

Hugh - Wow...I am a very big believer in this, the same with praying.  I also believe there's a time and place for corporate giving and prayer, but I don't ever recall a single Scripture of boasting about giving and prayer.
