Here is a unique chance to own the 8+ acres estate "Washington Well Farm", and with it become part of the American history. The story of this home starts in 1753, when Joost Dureya bought 260 acres of land and made it his homestead. He lived in the home with his two wives and his son, Simon, who served in the Revolutionary War. Following the custom of the early settlers the family burial plot is in the back of the property. Surviving to this day. in addition to the main house are the barn, an English carriage house, an out -kitchen and the famous Well. The estate's notoriety and it's present name come from the well across the road, situated on a 2.3 acres of land. The legend has it that the Continental Army was passing by on a very hot summer day. The soldiers were so thirsty that they drank the well dry. Today the main house is a gracious home with 8 fireplaces, 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bathrooms and all the modern amenities. There is also a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom beautiful legal apartment with a separate entrance. Gorgeous grounds, pool, pool house with a kitchen and fireplace, many other outbuildings - the only way to do justice to this home is to see it. It's a 15 minute flight from New York to the Princeton Airport, which is close by. The estate is offered with 2 additional properties: a charming 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom cape on 1 acre and 2.3 acres land.
Faina, This estate looks absolutely fabulous and in a very beautiful neighborhood. I too think it will be wonderful to show this property and wish you the best of luck with a very quick sale.
Charles - I am having an Open House today. Charlottesvlle isn't that far, right?:)
Carole - It has many wonderful benefits for a home that is priced like a small New York condo. Those with small apartments in NY can use it for the week end house, rent the other house or sell it and still have 2+ acres of land left.
What a wonderful listing. Knowing the history of an historic property is so import and certainly adds to its value. Imagine living is a home full of so much history!
Diane -It's a great home and continuing this history is important. It would be the person who can see how they can enjoy the history while living in one of the highest ranking school systems in the state.
