Hawaii Superferry Announces A New Beginning

By
Real Estate Agent with Jeff Griffin LLC RB-18258

On December 1, 2007 Hawaii Superferry’s grand catamaran, Alakai, begins daily crossings between Maui and O‘ahu.

Just in time for the holiday season, the December 1st service start date opens a whole new world of possibilities to celebrate, share and prepare for the holidays. Imagine being able to visit friends and family and not having to decide what to leave behind because it was too difficult to manage, or you were afraid it might get damaged in transit.

On Hawaii Superferry, you don’t have to be worried about packing too many gifts for the party or buying too much omiyagi to take back home; as long as it fits in (or on) your vehicle there’s no extra charge. From delivering presents to shopping for gifts, Hawaii Superferry allows you to explore new ways to celebrate the season.

As someone who has sat on the sidelines in Kauai, I must say I am not happy to see the Superferry sailing.  It's not so much that I am not open to the alternative travel methods that our island archipelago surely deserves. The main point that has upset me is that the Supreme Court ruled to stop the Superferry from sailing so the state could do an environmental assessment which of course should have been done initially. Then, the Governor chose to draft and pass legislation overturning the court. It's an embarassment of the democratic process and leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I will not be disappointed if the Superferry fails.

Aloha,
Ron

Well i agree that having a Superferry provides a great alternative to inter-island travel. I am not completely sure i honor the intentions of the company and the directors in terms of their serving the people of Hawaii.

Ronnie, The intention of the company and their directors is "Self Interest" like everyone elses.   No one simply wants to "serve the people of Hawaii" out of altruism.  Most people who want to do things like that want to do it using someone else's money.   If they do use their own money, they do so out of self-interest also, but their self-interest is simply honed in a different crucible.  Their perception of their self-interest is not to make more money, but to gain in power and prestige or something like that.   But, one thing for sure, if the ferry succeeds, Hawaii will be a better place to live.  That is why capitalism is so GREAT.  Jerry

Ronnie, please read my blogs of today and yesterday if you don't want a lawyer in your back pocket and taking a big chunk of your commission when you make a sale.   Jerry
