This year will be the 11th annual running of the Southern California Regional Rail Authorities in cooperation with the Southland Firefighters "Holiday Toy Express".

Every year this special train runs through Southern California lighting up the night with over 50,000 lights glowing, animation and Santa and all his helpers riding on board to collect new unwrapped toys and sporting equipment to benefit the "Spark of Love Toy Drive".

The goal is to make stops at all the terminal throughout Southern California starting its journey on November 17th and making its last stop on December 16th.

It will be making its special appearance at the Burbank on Decemebr 7th at 6:15 pm and will pull back out shortly after.  Try to get their early as this is a very popular event.  It will be arriving at the Downtown Burbank Station.  As this train is indeed a special one should it rain they will have to reschedule and you can call for the new time.

For more information please visist www.metrolinktrains.com.

This is a great even for all to come and see.  Bring the kids and enjoy this wonderful event.

Nestor & KAterina - You are right.  The pictures do not do it justice at all.  This really is something you have to see for yourself.  I will try to get some better ones when I take the kids there this year.

Joe, This would be a joy to visit! I didn't know there was such a thing as this. On 12/7 at 6:15, how long would it be there once it stopped by? Dave

Dave - The train usually stays for about 20-30 minutes.  It does run all over the Southland Cities.  Check the link on the blog and it will take you to the flyer with all the scheduled stops.

We have the Christmas ships every year, but this is kinda cool! My son would love something like this! One time he got to be standing about 10 feet from a train when it went by and I don't think his eyes could have gotten wider than when the conductor blew his horn as he passed with that smile on his face waiving at my son, who was waving back.
