As Realtors we are often asked to give to charities whether it be local, national or in your neighborhood/community. I give to the local shelter and occasionally to my local police force but recently I starting reminiscing about helping by giving my time. When I was a teenager I worked with a group of fellow friends at my school to help the elderly in local nursing homes by giving my "TIME". We could show up on Saturdays or Sundays and spend time with the elderly by taking walks with them around the hospital/home grounds, reading to them, playing a game of cards or best of all "just listening" to there many interesting stories of life" A fellow local agent of mine "Traci Fant" gives a percentage of her commission to her local school fund and she gives them quality "TIME" by volunteering to help with functions and fund raisers. Traci also gives hours of her time to the local "Wages and Whiskers" animal rescue service and goes above and beyond helping her clients sell there homes by helping them clean, organize and polish their homes with out any help from stagers. Seeing this kind of commitment and "TIME" spent with out expecting anything in return only inspires me to do more myself... If you have any ideas on giving "TIME" please let us know. We would appreciate any knew ideas to help others.

Hello Christina,
The most valuable gift we can give it our time, it is also very often the most difficult gift to give.

Christina, thanks for posting about a subject near and dear to my heart.  Here are my ideas on the topic of giving back through time, not money: Giving Back to the Community -- More Than Just Money

Whether we make $40,000 a year or $400,000 a year, we all have the same 24 hours in a day. it is the most valuable gift we can give, showing concern for others in less foretunate situations. (Money helps if your time is booked)
