Hey Brother Can You Spare Some Electricity?

During the Great Depression (the first one), there was a famous song that said something about "Brother, can you spare a dime?" People stood on food lines, waited for jobs to become available, and generally tried to survive. (and no, I wasn't there then-I read)

This is todays' version.

Hey Brother Can You Spare Some Electricity

The Nissan hybrid was just sitting there with it’s electric cord hanging out and looked hungry. Does anyone have any extra power they can donate?

Bing Crosby is the voice

Toni, That is a fun analogy!  I think that we will begin to see charging poles in many parking lots.

These are the cars of our future.......too bad we did not get away from oil decades ago. Think of the lives that would have been saved, not to mention the good it would have done for the planet!

Toni,

What a fun and entertaining post.  Bing's version is nice, and so many people have recorded this song.  I think at some point when we can split the atom safely, we can run a car on that energy for a very long time.  This was my father's idea. LOL A

Hi Toni, You shed some great perspective on recessions and depressions. I suppose this stage of the car is nothing compared to how it will be powerd in the future.

Tony - I think you're right. And, I took the picture and had no idea what to do with it--and then inspiration.

Barbara-Jo - what's most interesting is that they had all this technology decades ago.

John - I'm always happy to make you smile :)

Alexandra - I agree :) I picked this version because of the slide show; it's very evocative of the era.

Roy - thank you.

Chris Ann - this one was shiny and clean.

Gloria - it is my understanding that, yes, they can.

William - we probably will be surprised with the future of the car.

Nick - glad you enjoyed it. I've always liked this slide show and the train.

Gary - Thank you for that :)

Thanks everyone for enjoying my fun analogy.
