LONG ISLAND MUSIC LOVERS' FAIR

Thirteen years ago, Fred Falk, of Hamburg, NJ, started the LI Music Lovers' Fair. Once again, it will be held at the American Legion Hall in Massapequa on March 18th, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Like-minded people who love music and still have a strong interest in vintage records, C.D.'s, posters and album covers gather for a few hours to connect over their passion, browse through the merchandise, and buy or sell rare or even out-of-print collectibles. It is open to all ages. Regular admission is $5.00 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Early admission is $15.00 from 8 a.m. - 10 a.m.

Fred Falk can be reached at 973.209.6067 or by email at fred@nji.com.

Hi Jill, I see more and more record players (turntables) back on the shelves. I know a couple of years ago, a buyer for a local Store purchased albums instead of the CD's. They decided to put them out and they flew off the shelves. I have my two boxes of albums in storage..probably all warped at this point. :(

Thanks, Larry and Sheila. Perhaps, you should think about selling them.

Craig, On video, Fred Falk says he comes out here about 4 times a year so chances are good that someday you'll be on the island and the timing will be perfect.

Jill, I should be there.  I have boxes of albums...the really old ones in photoalbum cases..they used to be so attractive in homes.

Jill, Cindy and others interested,

I am what would be considered a music {LP} fanatic or audiophile.  Since the advent of the first vinyl LP, the record industry has made available for purchase products to correct flaws that have developed over the years to vinyl LP surfaces and shape (warping). Heat and improper storage cause vinyl LPs to warp. It is heat that is used by collectors or audiophiles that bring the LPs back to flat for quality playback. These products can be bought online or at most hi-end audio stores.

The fair will be fun to attend and I am looking forward to Sunday morning.

Hi Michael, thanks for the great info. I had no idea there were products to correct flaws to vinyl LP surfaces available for purchase. Have fun. May 17th, 2015 is apparently this year's date for all who are interested.
