Don't hesitate to tune up and re-blog old blogs.

Did you ever have a blog that seemed timeless, awesome or just down right helpful?  I bet you have.  If you've blogged something that is timeless, take a second look at it.  Is it a blog that can be tuned up and re-blogged?  Can you make a few minor changes to boost your SEO rating and put it back out for potential clients to find?

I blog on a number of different sites, and I make sure I post my blogs on all of those sites each time I blog something that I think is client worthy.  If I'm blogging for colleagues, I may not post on all of those sites, but I decided I'd spend the majority of the first quarter blogging for clients and hyper-local blogs.  When I do that, I always blog on all of those different sites.

This first quarter, I need to make sure I hit topics my potential clients want to read about.  I've already blogged on many of those topics on Active Rain so I tuned them up, worked on the SEO and re-blogged them on a variety of other sites.  One that I re-blogged this week found it's way to the first page of Google.  Not only did it find its way to the first page, it was the first 6 posts out of 10 on that page.  It was the first 5 posts on page 2.  Bing also has my blogs placed at 1 and 3 on page one.

Revive great blogs for SEO

Most of us have something we've written that is helpful to our clients.  Don't hesitate to fine tune the style, share new updated information, implement your newly found SEO techniques and re-post blogs that have high client benefit. Somebody needs what you know.  Don't hesitate to re-blog great content.  It may just boost your web-presence.

Mike, There's a lot of great material in old blog posts, and sometimes a year later we can make them look much better than they did our first attempt as rookie bloggers :)

I also post the same blog post to multiple sites. And those old posts just keep on giving, Had a question yesterday come from a post that was almost a year old. I know from looking at Google Analytics that the old posts are still drawing attention.

There you go, Gayle.  I'll have to check on the disclaimer.  Have a great day.

Andrea, in my case, I had so many blogs that were written early that had no concept of how they get placed on Google, Yahoo, etc.,  What I've done is update material, fine tuned the writing, implement SEO techniques and repost.  I has been really fruitful.

Absolutely, Gretchen.  You can also put keywords behind the photos to add to your keyword ratio on your blog.  Good luck!

That's exactly what I did, Doug.  Simple but fruitful.  Have a great Thursday!

David, they find you because they hear through grapevine that you're such a smart guy with a plan. 8-)

Thanks, Tom.  Happy Thursday!

Roger, I know in my case, when I started blogging I was totally clueless.  Of course those blogs didn't make it to page 1001 on Google.  8-)  So, I've been tuning and posting.  Good luck!

Great, Debbie.  You've got so many timeless blogs that I'm sure they can be fine tuned.  Of course, you're such a brainiac, I'm not sure you could me them any better.  8-)

Rookie blogger is a great term Bliz.  Clueless blogger is probably more reflective of me.  8-)

Excellent, Alan.

I'm trying, Conrad.  If I can say one thing for AR, it has helped me become more focused on important stuff and less wandering around clueless.  Even though I still have my clueless moments.  8-)

Hi Mike - Tweaking can draw the attention of Google, Bing and other search engines, and finetuning is also very helpful since they are always tweaking their indexing and search algorithms.  Need to keep up with the engines.

Mike, like Andrea...my earlier posts were good ideas but I think they lacked something in delivery.  This is a good idea to look at the stuff we know was good AND the ideas we know were good but need some "get out the tool box" tweaking.  Suggested.

Absolutely, Mona.  I just did a scan of Bing and Yahoo for the blog I tweaked yesterday, and it showed up on the front page on both.
