What income will it take to be rich in Maryland?

Carol Morello's article in the METRO section of today's issue of The Washington Post provides the answer.

A Maryland household needs to have an annual income in excess of $477,000 to rank in the top 1% as compared with the median household of $70,000.

If you live in Washington, DC, you need a household income of $617,000 to rank in the top 1% as compared with the median household income of $60,000.

You do not have to make quite as much in Virginia where it takes a household income $427,000 to be in the top 1% as compared to the median of $61,000.

The D.C region has weathered the downturn better than most, according to the article that you may wish to read.

D.C. area's rich are rich indeed

Those of us that are marketing our services to the households in the higher income brackets can focus on the top of 1% income earners for the largest purchases.

Enjoy the mild Maryland weather this week.  Last year we had deep snow on the ground. Be sure to have your camera in hand to capture those special moments as you are out and about in your community and your travels.

Thanks for your comments. Only a few Maryland real estate agents will be in the 1% group in 2012. Several of them should be with our company, RE/MAX Realty Group.

Come on over, Keith.  However, we don't have much waterfront in Montgomery County.

I hope you are enjoying the mild weather. I just returned from a long walk through Kentlands and Lakelands on this beautiful afternoon.

Be sure to have your camera in hand to capture those special moments as you are out and about in your community and your travels.

Hey!  DC isn't all lawmakers!  Most of them live in Virginia.  We get the lawyers and lobbyists.

Good Saturday morning, Pat.  You certainly have a strong base of high income prospects for real estate in the District.
