Millis Middle School Wins Contest and receives $100,000 grant from Target Corporation.

Here is a great testimony to the Small Town/Big Family motto that the town of Millis is proud to boast!

Yesterday Target Corporation announced that Millis Middle School was one of 50 recipients from across the country to receive a$100,000 grant.  From Nov. 25, 2011, through Jan. 4, 2012, viewers of The Ellen DeGeneres Show were invited to submit - via email - the name of a school, along with a compelling story explaining why they felt their designated school should receive a grant from Target.  Based on the submission from Amy, a clerk in the Middle School, we were the sole school in Massachusetts chosen to receive this amazing grant. Amy is a Millis graduate, and a mother of 3 children currently in the school district. She has seen first hand the important role that the teacher's play in the lives of the children of Millis. Said Amy, "Everyday I am inspired by the dedication and hard work of our teachers, and the kids are just awesome.  I just knew how much a $100,000 Target grant could help our students and teachers be successful in the classroom." The $5 million donations from Target to local K-12 schools across the country is part of the company's commitment to education, which includes plans to reach $1 billion in giving for education by the end of 2015.  We are so honored to have been chosed to receive this grant from Target. The learning experience of each student in the middle school will be enhanced by this generous award.  Thanks to Target Corporation, The Ellen DeGeneres Show and, of course, Amy!
