The Deadline for Filing Your Homestead Exemption is March 1, 2013
If you purchased a home prior to January 1, 2013 you qualify for the 2013 Exemption provided that you reside in the residence and you make this your permanent residence. If you have a homestead in another state, you cannot file for the exemption. Commercial usage of property does not qualify for the exemption. Simply bring your Florida Drivers License, Warranty Deed and Vehicle registration to your local County Appraisers Office by the close of business on March 1, 2013 to file. Manufactured Homeowners should supply the mobile home registration or title if the mobile home needs to be declaired as real property.
