I know what your thinking if your not familiar with this event and no we don't race turkeys on the beach or anything even close to that..

However it would be quite a sight to see, wouldn't it?

The Annual Daytona Turkey Run is like Biketoberfest but for the Classic Car Enthusiasts! Oh yes, and I am in absolute heaven!

The actual Turkey Run is held at the infield of the Daytona Beach International Speedway. Folks bring their classics from all over the country to

  •
    • Show off
    • Buy
    • Sell or
    • Trade

The only rule is the car can be no newer then a 1979 model.

There is also a swampmeet of sorts to buy and sell auto parts for almost any make or model of vehicle that you can imagine.

The event at the Speedway begins on Thanksgiving Day and runs through Sunday. Tickets are 15.00, Sunday 10.00, children under 11 are free. Bring your walking shoes, there is a lot of walking to be done there! I did this a couple years ago, the neat thing to me was actually walking on the speedway.

Here are some photos I took that day:

Dear Santa..  I've Been Good! HONEST!

Oh, One last thing! If you do go to any of the Car Events during Thanksgiving Weekend, please remember, Please Don't Touch!

These vehicles are worth a fortune, their owners take very good care of them. The last thing you want to do is scratch the paint or something worse.

Oh boy..I grew up with a 67 mustang in my garage..never could get it fixed up the way I wanted because of cash but Loved burning rubber with clorox on the tires. I wish I could buy a Shelby 350 GT just to drive on Sundays. Love old cars.

Lysa, I LOVE these old cars....or new I should say.  The way they have been restored is amazing, I wouldn't DARE touch :)  I hope you are able to go again this year (and think of me!).  We won't have many at all until the Spring---which seems so far away.

Carole, some of the owners of the cars that come here are the original owners and have kept them perfect through the years. I don't go to the speedway, but I do go somewhere else and will post about that later today. The speedway is just toooo big!

Joan, LOL! Nope, no turkeys... sorry :)

Lysa.... I love the old cars.... we have a car show of sorts here in the summer every Saturday night in Lombard.  There are old and new, but the old cars always get our attention.  In high school my first car was a 72 Monte Carlo, it was my grandparents.  Oh how I wish I treated that car better.  Very low miles, very clean... and well.... I was a teenage driver, with a very powerful car! Need I say more? Happy Thanksgiving
