Crawl space horrors. There is no room at all.

Here's an inspection where I needed to inspect the crawl space. There was no room atall to move around under the home.

The owner of the  home told me if I needed any help, just to call out. I told him if I called out it was because I was stuck under the home.

See how much room there was under this home. Not much at all.

Only about 14 inches of clearence t get around under the "I" beams.

This shot makes it look like there is a lot of room. But there was only about 14 inches to get under the "I" beams.

The "A" frames, or tungues were not removed.

The "A" frames were not removed from the home. This caused all kinds of trouble being able to get around and see everything clearly.

Remember when setting a Manufactured home, have the tongues removed from under the home. It do'es no good leaving them under the home.

I guess the only help the owner could have meant was to tie a rope to your leg, and pull you out if you got stuck.  Yikes!  Careful out there!

When I have inspected one of these homes, which is very infrequently, I usually see the tongue under the house.

Hello Clint,

Not much fun under that home. Dirt floor and steel everywhere, I hope you had a pair of coveralls. Looks like they did not use any mortar on the blocks, was it secured to the ground ?

Hi Cookie,

I did have a worker get stuck under a home one time.

It was not fun getting them out.

Have a great day,

You couldn't have paid me enough to get into that crawl space..............I'm claustrophobic.  I don't know how you do it sir.  Kudos to you.

Hi James,

The tongues need to be removed for better access to the entire crawl space. Not a good idea to leave them in there.

Hi John,

Yes it had a total of sixteen tie downs. Plenty but the areas to inspect was really, really low.

Ho Conrad,

I'm glad I don't have to worry about my weight. LOL

It comes in handy when I need to inspect a foundation.

Have a great day in Ma.

Hello Mr. Bond.

I only get that way if I get stuck in there. Then I really get bothered and start panicking.

Have a great day in Fairport Harbor, Ohio.

You never know what you will find under a house.  We always recommend a professional home inspection.

This could'nt be more true.

How about getting stuck under a home. Not a good thing at all.

Have a great day at the Heathlands.

Those set-in-place manufactured homes can be a problem!  That one almost looks like a mobile home!  And I don't like those "columns!"

I din't like them either.

Just wanting to see the crawl space, is that too much to ask? I guess it was. LOL

Have a good day in Fort Meyers .

Hello Jay,

The columns are set to code. They are sitting on a concrete foundation.

It's a good set all the way around. But no room in the crawl to get any thing done under there.

Clint, I don't like being under a house on a raised foundation.  Being in California always makes me think of an earthquake, when I'm in that situation.  Luckily, I no longer have a need to do it.  Thanks for sharing your tight space with us.  Best wishes always.
