Holiday Greetings????

By
Real Estate Agent with Prudential California Real Estate

I have another one of my inane questions I wish for you to ponder upon and of course I do look forward to hearing your comments. That statement may be the most sensitive one I pose for a while so bear with me. As we all know Christmas is just around the corner and we all send cards and emails that try to reach out and touch someone. The question I have is because of our diverse community not just in general but in our little Real Estate world as well. This is were I have to ask, do we send out a generic "Holiday greetings or do we send out what we believe in? I am not by any stretch of the imagination a Religious person but I do believe in a higher power and that someday I will have to answer to that power, but enough of me. We all know people who are of different faiths and some who claim to be Atheist or agnostic (I have some comments on that as well) so when we sit down and we send out our heart felt "please pick me" Christmas cards, do we send them with our beliefs or do we become politically correct and send the generic Happy Holiday card. I know it can be a sensitive subject and with all the hustle and bustle coming up how do we present ourselves without being offensive. I know what I plan on doing, what about you?

JD ~ I keep my cards to the "Happy Holidays" variety.  I certainly don't want to offend a client, or potential client, by sending them a card that has either nothing to do with their religion or that just assumes they celebrate Christmas.

Unfortunately, it's not about what we believe. Best of luck and Merry Christmas (I figure it's OK in this case). Happy New Year and have a prosperous 2008.

I send Christmas Cards to clients and vendors that I know well, and that believe in Christmas as I do.  For the others, I have happy holidays cards.  Certainly, don't want to offend anyone, but, I do believe in the spirit of the holiday.

It's a Good Life!
