transitionsIT IS THE FIRST SNOW OF THE SEASON!                                            I WOKE UP EARLY THIS MORNING AND SOMETHING WAS DIFFERENT.

THERE WAS A PEACEFUL SILENCE !

I LOOKED OUT THE WINDOW ...

THE SQUIRRELS WERE RUNNING AND HIDING THE ACORNS!

I HEARD KIDS AND THEIR INFECTIOUS LAUGHTER AS THEY DISCOVERED THE FIRST SNOW!

THERE WAS EXCITEMENT IN THE AIR !

SHOPPERS SCURRIED TO FIND THE PERFECT TURKEY FOR THANKSGIVING AND EXCHANGED GOOD WISHES!

IT IS A TIME OF TRANSITION ~ A TIME TO STOP FOR A MOMENT AND SIMPLY BREATHE ...

A TIME TO TAKE IN ALL THE BEAUTY OF THE CHANGING OF THE SEASONS!

Remember to take a moment for yourself --

Slow down and enjoy this wonderful time of year.  Smell the crispness in the air -- hear the joy of childrens' laugher, take in NATURE AND ALL ITS BEAUTY and enjoy this holiday season!  sounds of silence

                                                    more snow

Joan - Aaaaawwwww!!! I love those pictures!

Bill and Barbara Jo !  I am sure you will not hage to deal with the white stuff in Florida -- I think in a short time, I will want to get to Florida and the sunshine.  Right now I am enjoying it!  Have a snow-free and joyous Thanksgiving.

Elaine  -  I am sure Palm Springs is nice and warm.  I have spent Thanksgiving in So. California and we actually Barbequed an Turkey and went swimming!  Boy, that was a lot of fun!  I think it is a bit cold for barbeque here in New Hampshire.  Have a happy thanksgiving.

Linda  It really was beautiful this morning.  The whole world seems to change -- it really does the eveyone in the spirit.  Hope you have a warm and happy Thanksgiving in Texas.

I love your picture!  I can't wait tell it snows here!

11/20/2007 03:36 PM by Tyghre Collentine (Coldwell Banker Burnet)

Tyghre -- when does it start to snow in Minneapolis?  I am sure that you will be seeing some snow in the not too distant future!  I couldn't believe we already had some snow that was sticking -- only a couple of inches -- and it is supposed to warm up a bit on Thanksgiving -- and then the "real" winter will begin.  Enjoy Thanksgiving and the snow!

Enjoy the snow, Joan!  If you ever need to have a green, snow free winter, then come to College Station, Texas!

The green winter grass is pretty.

11/20/2007 04:25 PM by Nathan Cook (Classic Realty/GMAC Real Estate)

Nathan  I am going to want to see that green grass in TEXAS sooner than later!  I love the first part of winter -- and the snow!  However, about mid-january -- I am ready for the snow to stop.  I think I will have to check out "winter green"  Happy Thanksgiving and I'll see you in Texas.

Joan, we also got some snow.  I don't think that I am ready for this stuff yet.  I hope this is it until Christmas.

We got snow here in Maine, also. It's trying to melt now. Iguess this is it. Winter has started. If all you guys invite us to the warm country then, make sure you have room for us. What would you do if a bunch of us decided to show upat your door step.

LOL :)

It does look good. But i prefer the warmth. Getting chilly just looking at your pictures.

Joan....I don't even want to think about what is ahead....yuck!

George:    I always like the first few snow storms -- so long as they occur in late November and then for Christmas.  In January, it get sooooo cold!  It is the combination of the snow and the bitter cold!  I hope that Connecticut doesn't experience too much snow or too much cold~

Sue:    I guess Maine gets even more snow than New Hampshire.  I think the East Coast Active Rain members should plan a get-to-gether with our florida neighbors in January - through February (lol)  It would be great to get away from all the snow after the holidays.

Joan  I love the snow at the beginning of the winter -- I love to hear the kids laughter and their pure joy -- I love to see the neighbor pooches bound across the snow --  I love a white Christmas -- and then -- I AM DONE!  I must admit that one thing I liked about leaving the the Bay Area in California is that you could go up to the snow when you wanted, snow and they you could leave it behind you!  The snow actually isn't the problem later in the year -- it's that frigid cold and the ice!

Joan, So pretty to look at, but after my car accident in a snowstorm,we knew it was time to head south!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Ginger and Roger  It was so refreshing see the first snow of the year.   I especially enjoyed listening to the sounds of the kids and their excitement and joy!   I wish you a happy Thanksgiving!

Joan...Your pictures are absolutely wonderful.  You ALMOST made me want to be up there in the north.  Do you belong to the Photography Group.  If not you should join.

Cheers, Kathleen

Gary  I am sure you get a lot of snow in Michigan.  I have some very close friends who used to live near St. Joesph!  Hope you had a great Thanksgiving.  Stay warm.

Kathleen  Before I joined active rain, I never really took many pictures -- I seemed to have no talent what so ever.  I just "got lucky" with that shot - it was perfect --  I just have a very inexpensive Kodak digital which I bought several years ago.  I may join the group just to get more tips, but I am definately no ready for prime time.  Thanks for responding to my blog and I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving.

I'm so jealous.  Living in Miami the last 8 years makes Christmas seem surreal.  I yearn for snow, brisk weather, sweaters, fire places and (from my times in Germany) roasted chestnuts.  80 degree Christmas and palm trees wrapped in twinkle lights just seem a little odd to me!

Janie: I wish that I could send you some snow -- but I think it would melt. I hope you enjoy the holidays -- I am sure I will be looking seriously at a visit to your area the beginning of February --  New Hampshire winters can be very long!  Happy Holidays.
