So maybe I had already found my blogging voice.........................

Home Stager with Shaken...with a Twist 216.633.2092

Last week I decided to try a little experiment and went back and checked some of my old blog posts.  When I first starting blogging, I honestly didn't think I had found my "voice" quite yet because my posts got very few comments.  The four posts listed below were originally written in the early part of 2010 when I was very new to ActiveRain.  I re-posted all of them last week, with very few changes....... maybe added a few bullets and changed out the photo, but the content remained the same.  They all received quite a few comments.

So maybe I had already found my blogging voice, but no one was listening then!

Just a thought............

Roger, I think that has happened to all of us when we start out...and still today depending on the reports, although necessary, don't usually get much reading, etc.

It's tough when you are just starting out and don't get any feedback in the form of comments.

You just needed to be found my friend! Great job seeing how your "voice" is now being heard compared to when you first posted those blogs.

Lets shake things up at your home today!

More than likely, Ella Fitzgerald didn't wake up one morning and decide she was going to try singing.  She knew she had that marvelous "instrument" of a voice, but who heard it until she started singing in clubs, on the radio and making guest appearances on television shows?  Probably not too many people other than family, friends and an occasional choir director.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not comparing myself to one of the all time "greats" of jazz, but there is a bit of a similarity here.  I kicked some butt in school writing reports and speeches.  Later in life I wrote policies and procedures and employee manuals.  But who knew what I had to say?  Teachers, employers, family and a few people who "payed attention" to who actually wrote this stuff.  So until I was given a platform where I could blog and be heard, no one heard my voice or opinion on much.

Which brings me to today's post.  ActiveRain gave me a chance to write about some of the things I actually knew a little something about.  It also gave me the opportunity to just write about "stuff" that I thought other folks might be interested in reading.  But at the beginning, who knew Roger Mucci and why would they read my "stuff"..............................

The thing I found most interesting was the fact that when I went back and looked at some of my earlier posts, I was sure I was going to be horrified at what I had written and have tons of "editing" to do before I could re-post them, but that wasn't the case, so that was the reason for the little experiment.  I wanted to see that if now, after I have made all of these wonderful friends and people were actually reading my "stuff" if they would be received any differently, and they were.

All of that to say, thank you my friends, for taking an interest in what I have to say and for hearing my "voice".  I am truly grateful for all of you and the wonderful comments and compliments you left on my post today, and those that you leave every day.

Roger,  I think that it is ... you had your voice but no one was listening.  It takes time to build relationships and create loyal followers and those who comment faithfully. You've created that through your connections and your voice.  Well done!

Roger, Your writing is warm, witty, and hits parts of everyone's common experience. You are a major asset to the Rain and a nice change from visiting the perpetually uptight :-)

I've been thinking to do the same.....I've been so busy lately and may have lost my real voice!

Hi Roger--I can't believe they were all recycled posts.  Now that explains it.  I definitely think you have found your voice.  I love that blogging and AR makes that possible for all of us.  And now--look who's listening (reading).
