Never ask a puppy to style your home

Never ask a puppy to style your home

A professional stager has an eye for making the best features in your home stand out.   By using the things you already have …or not (packing away items that would be distracting to most buyers) or bringing in some of their own elements stagers know how to present a home in its best light.  I believe, their skills help" sell a home faster and at the highest possible price."

I know this, because I read about them on Active Rain!

I’m always amazed by the” before” and  “after” photos that I see here.  It’s still the same bathroom, or living room or kitchen but after staging  what was a perfectly good ordinary room now looks like a PERFECT GREAT ROOM-  one that a buyer wants to buy!

Every seller could benefit from hiring a professional stager  but I definitely would not ever recommend a home stylist like our Josie when putting your home on the market…

….But you should see for yourself and decide:

Josie Says:

“I love the idea of adding texture to a room, so I brought out the shower mat.   After a week of having to drag the shower rug back into the great room everyday and even sometimes twice a day, I think I’ve finally won the battle.   The owner’s are beginning to see my vision.

In order to visually enlarge the space in front of the shower, I brought the towel that had been placed on the floor in lieu of the mat, out to the great room also - to add just a pop of color.

A few old shoes and slippers carefully placed near the shower mat say ‘Welcome! Take your shoes off and sit a spell’.  I want visitors to feel relaxed and comfortable in the space.  I think it's a beautiful vignette.

The plastic bottle and toys that I like to play with add a touch of whimsy, as well as the label from the plastic bottle that I’ve shredded and artfully scattered in a random pattern around the room.

One of my puppy friends is coming over on Friday, I KNOW she’s just gonna love what I’ve done with this place!”

Wow, I remember those days.  Hide your shoes.    She's SO pretty.  I'm looking forward to you blogging about Josie as she grows up.  As for her stagging skills... don't know if she's really ready YET,

Dorie's son sounds like me: I always say my pups are doing the best they can til they can't!!!   It won't be long before you're looking back at her staging days and wondering when she grew up!

Mary, Josie has gotten SO BIG!!!  She's growing so fast.  Has she found out how much fun it is to TP the inside of the house yet?  That's my boys' favorite activity - still and they're over 2 years old, LOL.

Christine, I have to agree with you !  :-)

Tammy, if Ididn't think she was so darn cute, she couldn't get away with her "practice" staging! LOL  Josie says thank you for the compliment!

Thank you Dorie, and that's so true !  They really do try to be good..but then something just overcomes them.

Deborah, they think they know how to stage... but it's just not right! LOL

Susan, oh they just grow up too fast!  I know I will miss having a puppy...soon!

Love your sense of humor Mary.  Good thing you aren't trying to sell your home.  Several years ago I was selling my townhouse and we had a new puppy (not my idea).  I like to chew things, like the siding on the house!  We definitely had our challenges trying to sell with a new puppy.

A professional stager pulls it all together to sell a home.

Good luck and success.

Hi Mary,

I think your post is so cute. The dog is beautiful and looks like the rug was bought to coordinate with him. The art work done by her friend is spectacular. Just what an open house needs?

I think stagers do tremendous work and the finished product is always well worth the fee. Thanks for sharing your friend Josie.

Thanks Kristin, we didn't realize it until we nearly stepped on her several times that she does match the rug! LOL  I have to agree wholeheartedly about the role stagers play in marketing a home.

Mary: I love textures and have seen a few on the floor of my home lately that I did not appreciate so much. What a clever analogy. Your doggy is growing so big!

I'm a firm believer that having a professional stager is a great idea when putting a home on the market. But having Josie stage a home is NOT a good idea!

Hi Bruce, well as it turns out, our grandson got a puppy a few days after we got Josie, his puppy and Josie are great friends. All is well, hope you are doing well and haven't run into any more vicious dogs lately! Thanks Bruce!

Hi Melissa,  well there are good textures and then not so good, eh?  LOL  She is getting big!

Gordon, she's quite the little stager but we're not moving right now, so her efforts are only for her!LOL

Craig, you're right - hiring Josie would not  be a good idea at all!
