The Modern Day Real Estate Agent | See Any Video Making Gadgets Hanging From The REALTOR Utility Belt?

By
Real Estate Agent with MOOERS REALTY ME Broker License 106759

Like most industries, real estate marketing is way way more technical, faster paced today.

Marketing is more complex because technology improved and driven by real estate buyers demanding you the agent, broker, REALTOR step up to the plate. To make those home run deliveries that are rich, full, satisfying, complete. Every time they log on for local community or individual property listing information.

The selection of the pathway for the job you do today wearing the REALTOR blue and gold "R" hardly resembles the agent or broker's day to day just a few years ago. Used to be snap a couple images of your newest real estate listing. Add a line or two of the features that make it unique, to stand out. Spear a sign of your real estate colors in the front lawn. The market pretty much local.

And shoulder to shoulder with the rest in the real estate herd, you worked hard to pull down more than your fair share of the marketing pie.

To win more round trips to real estate closings.

The change in real estate marketing today is exciting. Or makes the agent, broker, REALTOR terrified and is highly dreaded. Like a parent of my son's hockey team mate who worked for the phone company, and retired recently. He explained that he was analog in an age of digital. And to make the leap so close to the golden parachute of retirement was not in the cards. Or a burning desire in his heart.

Have a 1500 to 1600 word video magazine article to write, to post on their blog. And my topic is the state of box of chocolatesaffairs for this valuable real estate marketing tool.

How to get more real estate agents, brokers, REALTORS to hang a video camera on one utility belt hook.

Some editing software discs on another and basically explain why less than five percent of real estate professionals do video.

And how to change that low number.

What would give it a proverbial kick in the pants or to help understand why folks have a fear, are so shy about real estate video production

Too many real estate agents, brokers have made purchases of video cameras, bought tripods, thought about green screens.

But lots in that real estate video making wannabe group have gone "deer in the headlights".

Dust forming, collecting on those still in the original package, never opened real estate video making devices. That are missing in action, painfully MIA and AWOL just not showing up. Not up and at 'em and out on the real estate marketing battle field.

Not providing the box of property listing video chocolates to show buyers what's inside for a filling, what to expect when you bite in to one.

A few agents, brokers have nibbled around the edges. Dipped their toe in the real estate video making marketing arena. Have a You Tube video channel, maybe a couple quick down and dirty cameo appearances. And that's it. Stalled or thinking "there, I can tell my sellers I do video". Of just me. No properties, no local events that make the community the sticks and bricks are in so special. Just "pick me, a little bit about moi "mirror mirror on the wall" ego gratifying. No edits, no intros, extros, no SEO wiring. Hit and run with little time or thought about who is going to benefit, want to watch this and come back for more?

starship enterprise

Today all we do in real estate marketing is for that buyer (and seller) that's in Captain Kirk's arm chair on the bridge of their own private Starship Enterprise.

Boldly wanting to go quickly in to unexplored, unchartered real estate waters. Far from their home town where they need to know everything A to Z about the new zip code.

The one they are being relocated to, thinking of investing or retiring in soon with your help.

With a ticking watch making information gathering priority one. Scanning for real estate videos they want to open up a channel to receive.

Looking to get an open frequency lock on something they need, can use in decision making of the largest purchase of real estate they ever make in a life time.

Whoa, pretty Yoda serious stuff, this real estate video marketing is.

So, please help me with my video magazine article and explain, throw out there for the group of eyeballs scanning this blog post the reasons why you have not added video to your real estate marketing. And what would help you get off the fence and join forces with this powerful, memorable way to use the eyes and ears of the real estate buyer.

Making real estate videos to sell more property listings. Removing the hurdles of real estate video starts with turning the room lights up fully. Identying, seeing those obstacles one by one. To figure out what's it going to take to get around them.

Andrew you are right. If you are a agent in today's market you better be on top of your marketing game or you be left behind.  Good luck in 2012.   E

Every real estate professional should be using video presentations.   Many of the video cameras are very affordable and easy to use.

Be sure to have your camera in hand to capture the special moments in your community or during your travels.

E and T ... "Why I am not using real estate video... yet....is because ........"

Roy ... You know the power of the image, using media beyond the words, copy and read, read, read.

Rich ... No longer in the future. Cards dealt out long ago with video but the reason our real estate industry is slow to climb on to the shoot, edit, render, upload for big returns. Buyers want, will get real estate videos with the live show and tell capture. Be the little red hen in your market, county, state, region of the country.

Andrew - I hope no cows were herd in the making of this video :)

I love the video! Yes, we do have to get into it more. I just started and I'm wondering what took me so long. I'm suggesting your post.

Toni ..Very athletic cows, bovine and they had fun making the gyrations for the video. Tune stays in your head.

Lee ... Fair enough. But once you shorten the time needed and your skills improved, that won't be a problem. Especially when you are getting listings because of your videos, and having more sales for the same reason. Because not everyone is, does, can, if you do... woo hoo. Try it, and see.

John ... Thanks for the suggest for feature. But think that button is malfunctioning. Had one blog post that took a long time to "build" and loaded with information and five suggests from the trail of comments. Nope, out of good stars. It's the views, outside platforms and buyers, sellers picking up the signal that are 24 K gold stars that count. Appreciate you hitting the button that is out of order, or the tilt light has come on behind the lime green AR shimmering rhinestone curtain.

Andrew - I have no good reasons for not doing video, but here they are - don't like seeing myself on camera, no time, not good at editing and don't like the production quality.  Like I said, no good reason.

Christine ... thanks for popping in. You don't have a face for radio so pleasant and professional gets you an A plus. But start off camera so nothing to be self conscientious about. Cover a short video of a Costa Mesa CA event. Heck hit the dog pound, lots of cute and cuddly, warm and fuzzy need a home. Good cause, exposure and short, simple. I do 60 second in Maine type videos. Not a million edits, not a lot or any dialogue to stumble over or worry about. And one by one these help your never been to Costa Mesa CA buyers. Locals like them too. Too many agents, brokers think its all on their shoulders to be witty, dynamic, spell binding charismatic. None of us are so turn the camera around to capture the area flavor, the new property listings. Videos show how the home goes together, breathes life in to the property listing. Photos are just pieces of it. Stuck, frozen in time. No sound to explain what the video leaves out.

Andrew - you are absolutely right.  And I am absolutely lazy - I have not taken the time to learn how to use my video camera.  Have not even researched where or how to host a video, yet.  I have seen several of your short videos, 60 seconds is a good length.

Virginia... Lots of platforms but You Tube...free, pick of the pack, best of the bunch, cream of the crop. There one's obstacle for video removed, chainsawed for you. You have the video camera. Bonus and saves shopping, spending money. And puts you ahead of others in the herd. Short and sweet local videos...if the state fair is in your home town, and you are going anyway, take along that camera and make the red recording light blink. Capture three or four loops of different events. Done. Make a standard intro, outro that gets used everytime. Not created from stractch time consuming every time. Not you on camera, don't need an audio script and you just showcased the area you list, market, sell properties in. The one you are some kind of excited, hopping up and down about to tell the world. Share your local area cause that's the spark from outside buyers, half your audience if 50% of people don't live within 50 miles of where they were brought up, your home town.

Andrew.  I watched a few more of your videos, they are great.  You inspired me to learn how to use Windows Movie Maker.  I loaded a 7 second video and made a title page and a credit page.  Uploaded it to my YouTube account - which I have only used for slide show 'videos'.

Baby steps, but you have to start somewhere.  I will figure out audio, etc, and someday lose my stage fright and show myself.

You are right about buyers - 90% of my business is from out of state buyers looking for a second home or home to retire to.  They are looking for info and videos are perfect.

Thank you!

Virginia ... Good going and you are on a roll, the right path of real video. Once you do a few properties, local videos your stage fright will be go. Remember the buyer is after information. Easy to digest, always in the deli case of your grade A real estate buffet. That you smile and keep stocking with fresh, new, easy to graze on videos, tidbits.
