When opportunity knocks....

By
Real Estate Sales Representative with Sage Executive Group Real Estate
Last Friday  an 'opportunity' appeared out of nowhere - a request to perform as a special interest speaker on a cruise ship, sailing from Dubai to India and back to Dubai. Speaking, leading and teaching guests on topics ranging from Eastern philosophies and meditation to tantric tenants and beliefs. All topics of passion, for me.

This is my latest and greatest opportunity.  To sail on a Royal Caribbean Brilliance of the Seas cruise debarking from Dubai on April 6th crossing to India, 5 ports of call, and returning to Dubai 11 days later on April 19th. Opportunity for spiritual growth, or distraction from focus on building my real estate business, and financial growth?

So, when opportunity knocks... do you open the door wide and shout HELLO!! Or ... peer suspiciously through the peep hole and ask 20 questions while becoming smaller and smaller with intimidation and fear?

Or when a boat appears on the auction - and your intuition says 'good buy' do you just pull out the visa card.... and know instinctively that something good will come of this transaction , even though you cannot see it right now? Or do you do the sensible, logical thing and shut off the computer, go to bed and rise again to another day, debt free and unencumbered?

Fortune favours the bold Sharon. I would be tempted to jump on board. It's amazing how I have learned so many lessons that I can apply to my real estate business when I'm involved in activities that would seem to have nothing to do with real estate. Personal growth can come from anywhere, and can't hurt our careers.

The best advice I have ever received on opportunities was to always take them all, no matter what.  You can always learn about the details later and decide that it might not be right for you, but unless you don't take that first step, you'll never know.  As the old saying goes, you'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

Sharon,

I assume that you must have the appropriate expertise in the field. If so, sounds interesting.

"I listen for a living." It's all about you.

I am a big YES on opportunity, but a big dose of due diligence comes with that.  Passion and purpose rule my life and wandering down the wrong current right now can veer me from my desired landing spot.  Thanks for more food for thought.

I'm with Larry above.  I love adventures BUT I have an important focus and it is paramount.

Love the focus Judi and Larry!! Luckily ... or unfortunately we are not all wound by the same clock, so off I sailed, and not only had a once in a lifetime opportunity, but broadened my life experiences, knowledge and wisdom while inviting a flow of abundance into my life that I was unable to even dream of prior to the adventure! ANd I am so grateful for the focused individuals in my life that keep their feet on the ground and tug me back to responsibilities and realities every so often. We are all needed and appreciated!!
