Happy Thanksgiving to my friends and colleagues in the rain and to all my consumer readers and clients.

Manhattan this time of year is particularly beautiful and there are many fun things to do this time of year.

Tis the Season!

Below are some recent pictures around town.

The first picture was just taken this evening (Thanksgiving Eve). It is the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade ballons lined up on the ground on West 81st Street and Central Park West. They are ready to take off in the morning down Central Park West around Columbus Circle down Broadway to Macy's on 34th Street.

The Next picture is of ice skaters enjoying the day in Bryant Park

This picture is Lord & Taylor specialty store - Remember to shop early. Friday is Black Friday.

The last picture is also Bryant Park. Relax with a nice cappuccino, enjoy the jewelery gifts and crafts kiosks and maybe take in some ice skating.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks for the memories, Mitch. How is the wind tonight in the Big Apple? It seems to always whips up on the eve of parade day!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi John, Thanks for stopping by...Happy Thanksgiving

Hi Ginger, You're right it's always windy and bitter cold on Thanksgiving.  No wind tonight, it's warm and balmy actually...there were so many people and kids out tonight.  Happy Thanksgiving!

Mitchell, you have to take some pictures of the Christmas windows at Tiffany's!  Jim and I walked over for the unveiling, and they are just magical.  And I am so jealous!  You live so close to the start of the parade!

11/21/2007 09:06 PM by Patricia Kennedy (Evers & Company)

Happy Thanksgiving Pat

I promise to take pictures of Tiffany's window. I have to remember keep my camera with me at all times. I have not even seen the tree in Rockefeller center and the one at Lincoln center yet either.

I've never been down to Macy's on Thanksgiving but you can always get a good spot to see the parade on Central Park West.

10:45 A.M. Thanksgiving morning. 76 degrees in NYC - I missed the parade, although it goes on until noon it was already past my neighborhood. However, I caught the street sweepers and sanitation trucks following the parade. Congratulations to the sanitation department Central Park West was immaculately cleaned.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Mitch!  How are you sir?  Happy Thanksgiving!  In 2007, I was lucky enough to meet you on a rooftop in Manhattan at the BLOG/Active Rain Party!  I am very thankful for that.  I also heard from Jeff Belonger about the January event so I look forward to seeing you again.  Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family from me and my family.  Here is another way of me expressing my wishes with this picture that I just edited and worked on:

Yep.  That's New York City alright.  I haven't been there for years but it doesn't appear to have changed.  Of course there are a couple of buildings missing.  But, life goes on in New York City.

Mitch, We watched a little bit of the parade on TV this morning . It looked like a perfect November day in NYC. You know I lived there almost 20 years and never went to the Parade....not big on morning parades... St Patricks yes, Macy,s never.

We had a beach day after dinner... Hope your day was wonderful!

When I worked in Manhattan, I used to go to the Thanksgiving -Eve balloon extravaganza with my friends.  Did it every year for six years....would knock off work at 6PM - and then go BACK to finish a few things.  Always got home (White Plains) at about 1 AM on those nights.  Had a great time though! I worked with a lot of Chinese and Indian nationals - they LOVED it - it was one of the many ways they became Americanized....that and baseball games at Yankee Stadium!

Hi Mitchell:  What great pictures you have take for us.  I have only been to New York City once, and really enjoyed my visit.  I even treated myself to a life-threatening ride with one of your crazy cab drivers.  Thanks for taking the time to share this with us.  Hope your Thanksgiving kept you warm.

Hiya Mitchell! Happy Thanksgiving to you too! I spent the day cooking, serving food and the rest of the time? Watching a Bob Dylan marathon a tad obsessively lol.  Love the balloon guys face down...I'd say a bit too much local microbrew? :-)

Lovely photos, the one that says Bryant Park looks so serene and warm...deceptively so maybe. Thanks for sharing -

Mitchell,

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.  Our family has always enjoyed our trips to NY.  We have always wanted to go to NY for the Macy's parade, but have not gone because of how early one would have to get up to get a good view from the street.  The other alternative would be to get a hotel room that overlooks the parade.  Are there hotels that line the parade route?  If so I wonder how many years in advance you would have to make a reservation?

Fidan and Julia, Thanks, Call me if you come, I'd love to meet you.

Ginger, It was a beautiful day yesterday - Beach day sounds really fabulos. I'm not big on morning parades either as you can see it was over at 10:45 am when I got out.

Ruthmarie, Thanks for stopping by. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving, I was up in Westchester yesterday, my sister lives in Scarsdale. The Ballon eve was really crowded this year because of the warm weather.

Karen Anne, I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving, thanks for stopping by

Todd and Danielle, Thanks, hope yopu come visit some time.

Carole, I think the ice skating in Bryant Park is new. I stumbled upon it last week walking back from a closing.

Laurie, Thanks, Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving too.

Bert, Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. I find if you stay uptown in the 80's where the parade begins you can usually see without getting there too early. As far as hotels there is the Manadarin at Columbus Circle in the Time Warner center which is very expensive and several in Time Square. I wonder how far in advance I guess it would be like getting a room for New Years Eve.

I'd like to have a listing of a vacant apartment overlooking the parade route one of these years.

Mitchell - Thanks for the great shots - I used to live in Manhattan - tried to go the parade once but the crowds were  - well they were the Macy's Day Parade crowds!

Happy Thanksgiving!
