Some people are just Nice Guysgiving

  • A few months ago, one of my sellers gave me some old Delaware County tax map books. They are copyright 1909 and a couple years later.  You can see the coloring in by hand - they are just gorgeous!  I believe the actual map drawings were printed/pressed - then the color was added.  I have to reinstall my camera software, hopefully I remember to add the picture in later :)

  • A seller told me the other day, that although they purchased a house in Florida about a year ago, they haven't stayed there yet.  Why? The current seller of that house had some health problems, was building a house, and had two buyers bail on him.  "I just let him stay in the house. It seemed like the nice thing to do".  No, I don't believe there was any compensation there.  He knew that he had another home to stay in, although brrrr in PA.  Wow!

  • I was going over some items with my seller after a contract was consumated.  He mentioned that he will be leaving a replacement filter for everything (whole house water filter, refrigerator, 3-HVAC, downstairs fridge), replacement lightbulbs (regular, flood, etc), replacement sump pump ("you should always have a replacement - if you find out you need another one - it'll be too late when you run to the store to find one"), etc.                                 Opposite of this seller: Take ALL the toilet paper, soap dispensers, and don't you dare leave any of the extra paint to touch up anywhere!

Thank you, Nice Guys (and Gals) out there.  May we all learn it is so rewarding to be so giving......

Kim, that second story about letting the former seller stay in the house is interesting. Seems like the new owners would at least do a Seller's lease to keep everything legal. Happy Thanksgiving.

Matthew Funny I didn't even think about it applying to Thanksgiving until in the middle of writing!  Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

Gary That was my first thought (sad actually), but I have a feeling it will all work out ok. Happy Thanksgiving!

Kim

Seems like people that are hard to come buy so trusting and all. It is nice to hear about events like these, thanks for sharing.

Take all the toilet paper? How about the ones who remove every light bulb?

Kim, how lucky you are to have received those plat books.  What a treasure!  Being nice doesn't cost much most times and it gives so much more in return.  Too bad not everyone sees things that way.

Amen, sis.... there are not many of the nice guys out there these days.....

So many loose the Golden Rule and replace it with,"Do unto others BEFORE they do unto you"....

I am glad we have an oasis here in "The Rain"....

I just fell in love with the guy who left all the filters and stuff.  I've seen sellers take everything - except for a few dust bunnies and empty beer cans!
