Worthington Schools
The Worthington City School District in northern Franklin County serves the City of Worthington, the Village of Riverlea and a portion of the City of Columbus as well as homes in unincorporated areas (townships.) The school district boundaries were in place before much of northern Franklin County was developed or annexed into cities. Worthington was established in 1803.
It looks as if the school pictured in the Channel 10 News video is Kilbourne Middle School. The photos here are of Kilbourne Middle School, on E. Dublin Granville Rd. last November. This Worthington middle school was the high school in Worthington before the school on W. Dublin Granville Road was built. The school on W. Dublin Granville Road is now named Thomas Worthington High School. The second high school in the Worthington school distirict is Thomas Kilbourne High School. The school disctrict is served by a third high school, the Linworth Alternative Program as well. Kilbourne Middle School is one of four middle schools in the Worthington. The other middle schools in the Worthington City School District are Worthingway, McCord and the Phoenix School.

It is sad that such measures are required but anything that makes our schools better is for the best.
I can not even imagine how different it is today for kids in schools, than it was not so long ago. It's very different than it was when this school was built. I wished I remembered when this was built, a very different time. 1930s? I can not even imagine how much it takes for schools today to protect children. I don't think of Worthington as a school district that would have bomb threats or much mischief, but this building was built when chewing gum in school was mischief from what I understand.
