The 50th Gaslight Parade & Block Party In Ormond Beach (Edited)

This years parade will be honoring the Ford Model T owned by John White.

Mr. White brought this same car to the very first show 50 years ago and will be bringing it back this year!

The Gaslight Parade begins at 7:00PM and leaves from the Casements (former home of John Rockefeller) on Granada Blvd. travels east to A1A then heads south on A1A to Harvard Drive where it then turns right onto Riverside Drive to head back north to the Casements for the Block Party.

There are a few simple rules to follow if you want to bring your classic car and participate in the parade..

  1. The cars must be pre 1980 vehicles only.
  2. No Customs
  3. No Modifieds
  4. No Hotrods

Oh, and this year the participants are not allowed to throw candy from the cars...

We attended the parade last year and it was so much fun seeing folks in their old cars, some dressed in period costume. We won't be attending the parade this year, as tonight is the only night we have to relax.

Tomorrow night we will be going to the Muscle Beach - Hot Rod Show and Shine on Main Street that starts at 7PM and also popping in to see a sound check with the band formally known as *FOGHAT, now known as Tony Steven's SLOW RIDE show at the Banks and Blues.

Sunday I'm working on the Ride for Pee Wee, so yes, tonight we rest...

Here are some photos I took from last years Gaslight Parade.. Enjoy!

Moni, I have a Cannon Power Shot S1 IS. It's a good little camera, it wants to be a Rebel XT when it grows up. I'm looking forward to tomorrow night! Saw a lot of excellent cars on my way to and from work today... oh to have just one!

I have the Cannon Power Shot  SD550 and I love it. It is a nice little camera and small enough to always be with me. I'd like a better zoom and better low light conditions but over all...it works for me.

Moni, mine isn't small, but not big either. It has a 10X reg zoom with a 32X digi zoom. The digi zoom is ok to about 25, but after that the photos become grainy. I would love a stronger zoom for my animal photos. They don't always come to me! :)

I bet they don't come to you. I was looking at the Rebel but it isn't in my budget. I love my little camera but really need to have 2 cameras....LOL.

Monika, only some don't come to me :) This is my buddy the Great Blue Heron I took this last week while he was flying towards me from a tree. He comes when I feed the fish at work. I have a post in here about Egyptian Geese that came running to me one time too, they were adorable!

Joan! LOL!! Come on it!

Lysa, The photos are awesome not to mention the CARS.  50 years later and both the car and it's owner are still going strong :)  I hope you got to go and had a wonderful time!

Carole, thanks :) Yes the cars were so awesome last year! I would have loved to go on Friday, but we need to rest... so much to do this weekend!

Cynthia, I heard it was great. Steve was disappointed we didn't go, we're doing things different next year I think.

Lisa, Remember, these were all last year, and I have nothing to show for this year :(
