Rich color of burnt henna
sparkle as rays of sunshine
rest upon his mane
springing forth majestic beauty
gently nudging his way
together with the rein
he knows where he is going
he leads with step ahead
he dances with the wind
and lightly touches heaven
It was actually an accidental photo. I was about to trash the photo when I saw the gorgeous coloring on this horse. So I framed it and it has been sitting on my desktop. The the poem came to me a little while ago- and so there it is.:)

Great photo - not only do I love the colors and contrast, but I love the way you can see the horse's muscles so close under his skin. Beautiful!

Wayne and Jean- I noticed that as well right before I was about to move this photo into the trash bin. The muscles are an amazing part of the horse anatomy - strong and yet so graceful.
Barbara- Thank you. I actually am a published poet. I have been writing poetry since I was 12 years old. I found out later there is no money in poetry, :) You write poetry because you love poetry and to express your emotions so it is healing. I go through phases where I won't write for a long time then suddenly be inspired and the words just flow. Never force poetry I learned years ago. Katerina
They are such incredible animals aren't they, Katerina! We grew up having horses and I loved it!

Emily- Thank you for reading my poem:) It is a real challenge to take photos of horses. I am still learning how to use my sport feature on my camera and still struggling with it:) Sometimes I take almost 100 photos of the jumpers to get one good one at just the right moment in the air as he or she is crossing over the fence. I will get better with time:) This was going to be throwaway but when I looked again, the gleam, the shine, the muscles, the color... I could not trash the image. Katerina
