The holiday season seems to officially kick off when the doors open for those so called "door buster sales" , most stores began opening at 4am this morning and I even seen a couple open @ 12am!

All the bargains, so where do you go first?

I am not a fan of this madness but must admit I was at BJ's wholesale club at 6am for the 7am opening this morning, not shopping for others but to treat myself to a new 37" flat-screen for my family room. 1 Hour in the freezing cold was more than enough fun for me for one shopping day. Getting there 1 hour before opening placed me 12th in line and I think was more than worth the $150.00 saving on the TV I wanted.

Now on the other hand my sister in law went to Toy's R Us at 3am for a 4am opening and there was not 1 shopping cart left! Everyone was lined up waiting in the freezing cold for the doors to open at 4am, now that is crazy!

What's your take on the Black Friday madness, worth it? not worth it? do you participate?

Too many crazy's out there for me!

LEO - It is easier to shop on line or wait a day or two.  $150.00 sounds like it was worth it though.  If there is something very specific and at a very good price, I might do it.  Otherwise, no.

Nope.  Not this year.  I'd rather be blogging!  :)  Plus, I'll only get up that early to MAKE MONEY, not SPEND IT!

I think it is crazy!  For me, it takes the fun out of the triptophen/sugar induced coma that thanksgiving is all about!

Hi Leo,  I would have to be crazy to go out and I never do on the Friday after Thanksgiving.  I like to shop when no one is around, like on Tuesdays.  I work hard at going shopping when the least amount of people are there and then there is the parking.

I am not much of a shopper unless I know what I am going out to buy, the TV was a good deal, I looked online for it and I could not find anyone even close to the price so all in all BJ's was not even close to the other zoo's out there today.....

Phil, I agree online is so much nicer for shopping!

Leo - Stayed away from the craziness myself...Son and daughter-in-law braved the crowds...they were very disappointed that the store they went to only carried two of the item they wanted, and by the time they got there, it was sold out.

I slept in, went to Office Depot then left without buying anything.  I think I am going to do a lot of online buying this year
