I have never made it a secret that I never really got along with my in-laws, but I did tend to get along with my BIL.  We don't have a lot in common, but he did use for his home loan.  So, I guess I have to be nice to him.  Well, anyway, he has been divorced a few years.  I never really cared for his ex.  She wasn't my cup of tea.  Well, this year he is dating somone new and she is a nice girl. very pretty, athletic and so on. 

Well, I heard her name but no one introduced me to her officially.  Well, I called her by the ex's name.  Not once, but twice.  I blame the sales technique that people like to hear their name.  So, I just kept saying it.  Oh, yeah, I rode that doggy into the ground.  When she left the room to go grab some more food off the buffet line in my kitchen.  My BIL leans over and tells me,"huh, her name is Jenny, not "insert name of ex-wife here)". 

Well, yes, I was embarassed, but I pulled it out and only a they heard me to do it.  But, this is a lesson that we all should learn, know the name before you speak it.  Their names were close, well, if you count the "Y" at the end of the names, then they are close.  She was not mad, but it made for a funny story telling the wife.
