The Canton City Council recently approved a construction bid for an Etowah River water monitoring station that will be part of its Hickory Log Creek Reservoir project.

The city council approved the $24,364 bid for the 80-square-foot masonry structure that is to serve as a monitoring station for water that will be drawn out of the river and sent into the Hickory Log Creek Reservoir under development off Bluffs Parkway.

Along with other costs for the $100-million reservoir, the city is to pay 25 percent for the construction of the monitoring station, and its majority partner, the Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority, is to pay 75 percent, officials said.
