I use to think the most important tool I owned was my computer. Well it is pretty important but if you don't know how to get to a showing you really don't need the computer now do you? When I first started the third home I was suppose to show was to a rather high profile manager coming into town. I was sure I knew where I was going, house and everything. Hmm, I was wrong - I drove to the house parked and the manager's wife said this house sure doesn't look like the picture on the flier. That still didn't stop me, I said well it has been listed a while and the picture was taken before the leaves came out on the trees. She then said the house in the flier is a ranch, this is a split level. She handed me the flier and I looked at the picture - sure enough wrong house and even worst I didn't have a clue where the other house was.
Gee, I looked pretty sad, so we drove the area and didn't find the house after about 10 minutes. I apologized and took them back to the office - they had a lunch appointment. Needless to say I never heard back from them and I don't blame them. If I had put the address into a GPS there would have been no problem. I would recommend a GPS to every new agent or an agent moving to a new area, it is a big relief to know where you are going. The one I use is a Garmin NUVI 350 and it is pretty cool, when we move to the DelMarVa Peninsula and Maryland's Eastern Shore (retire) you can bet I will be using a GPS to get me to where I need to go!
