The resurrection of "Quiturbitchin' and just have fun"........................

Home Stager with Shaken...with a Twist 216.633.2092

On Saturday, I had a delightful phone conversation with Margaret Rome.  Somehow we got on the topic of Featured posts and she told me about a post she had written in 2007.  I had to check it out and I attached the link here: Please Don't Throw Me Any More Gold Stars

gold star

If you haven't read it yes, please do.  It's a fabulous post and holds up today.  Margaret isn't too concerned about Features, nor am I, you'll see her point when you read her post.

It reminded me of a post I wrote last November that I thought I would resurrect.

Do you see anything here about Featured Posts?

How about Leaderboards?

So many posts have been written lately about what posts get Featured and how the same people get Featured all the time, and who passed up who on the Leaderboard and who's upset about it.

Please people, get over it.

Quiturbitchin' and just have fun........................

Remember why you joined ActiveRain..........was it truly to climb the Leaderboard or get your posts Featured?

I remember how excited I was at my first few featured posts.  Then one day I came home to find a post had been featured, and my thought was, "it's going to take all evening to respond to these comments."  :))

Very nice to be acknowledged, but I'm here for business and learning. The friendships made along the way are a bonus. But the points and features won't pay for my trip to Greece or retirement.

Just sayin.

Getting a gold star like you did with this post just means you'll get more comments.  I think everyone likes their moment in the spotlight.  If one writes a post worthy of mention because of the way it was written or the content why not?

Let me go read Margarer's gold star post, too. Ten comments early AM on AR is ten things I learn that day. Stars are fun but knowledge moreso!

You got a Gold Star! Yeah!

I joined AR as a business "move". It quickly became part of my social life. After all, most everyone here do and understand what I do since we are all in the same field. Sharing about our professional and personal life is natural.

Just like with my friends in town, I can never stay away to long. I have many good friends here too: ) ...Bummer we don't have a coffee room or a water cooler right here! Wait! Are you thinking what I am thinking?

HAHAHA...I love the word "quiturbitchin" but I have to tell you that Iam always flattered when any of my posts receive the gold star. There are so many excellent bloggers here that it is an honor for me to be featured! Just sayin'...

That's the key, Roger.  Don't be concerned about features and BINGO!  You're wearing that gold star, and it looks nice on you.

Roger, I originally joined to expand my Internet presence and thought AR would be a great place to network. Its been four years this month and working well. Its nice to get recognized with a Gold Star every once in a while too.

Roger, I can agree with many of the comments. I remember when Margaret wrote that post and have felt the same way several times. I'm here for business and the relationships that I've built over the years. I love this...

How ironic that this post got Featured, and I'm not complaining.  I never have and never will. If my other response sounded defensive, it certainly wasn't meant to be, I was just trying to explain how I really felt.  It's kind of like an e-mail, you can't be sure of the tone when you read it.

There is nothing wrong with being competitive, we all are, or need to be in order to be a success, otherwise we'd be trampled on.

Like any other day, I'm having fun in the "Rain" reading posts, making comments and responding to those who commented on mine.

Thanks for showing up and leaving your comment and opinion..................all greatly appreciated.

I am here to expand my business, getting point points for my posts is a big plus.  Plus I am competitive and try to keep up with some Rainers who started blogging about the same time I did.  Unfortunately, they have all surpassed me.  I need to find new competitors.

Roger - It's fun to get a feature, but it's definitely not the be all and end all of AR.

Roger - who doesn't like a pat on the head?  I love getting a gold star!  I enjoy reading other members' featured posts and find them a gold mine of information.  I admit that I sometimes see a post with a few lines, misspelled words, etc. etc. and wonder how that exactly got featured but it does not bother me.  I have too many other biggies on my daily plate.  The gold stars add a little fun, but are not the main reason for being here.

You know I love this, Roger. (lol).  And besides, we all know how to write a "featured" post.  Just look at the majority of featured posts and you'll begin to see the general pattern (minus the few random ones).  I'll leave it at that.  (wink).

Mr. Ames, you said a mouthful sir...................I agree with you 100% and got more out of what you didn't say than what you said!

Of course it's fun to get a gold star, but I'm sticking with what I originally said,  was the reason you joined ActiveRain to climb the Leaderboard and get your posts Featured?
