Why Did the Squirrel Run Across the Road

Why Did the Squirrel Run Across the Road? I guess he was trying to get away from me?

So I pulled over and took a picture. Then I see one up on the tree trunk in the middle of the field. Didn’t have my good camera but couldn’t miss a shot anyway. It came out pretty clear.

These squirrels’ coloring really camouflage into their enviroment so makes it hard to see them.

Here is a close-up. He would not look at me as I am sure he was hoping I would just go away. I finally drove away and left him to play or hunt.

Kristin,

I notice that he was careful not to step on the double yellow line. :)

Hi Steve,

How observation of you to notice the yellow line. I love how his hind feet were up in the air. I try to take squirrel photos all the time between running so fast and blending into the land, it is hard to see them. There was a deep hole about 4X4 ft. and a lot of them had hidden there and you cannot see them from the curb. This is rattlesnake territory so I would not dare walk out there to find them. Another day!

Hi John,

My family and friends laugh at me as I will see a situation for a few seconds and I will say "I bet.......just happened. And then ......is going to occur." They say how do you get all those details by observing for 5 seconds. I just do. I have good common sense and perhaps a little bit of imagination too. Someone has to speak for the animals, Right?

Hi Jason,

Luckily I was the only one on the road. My friend had seen a huge hawk there about 3 hours before so I drove home that way hoping to see something good. I like squirrels but prefer raptors.
