My Favorite Honolulu Neighborhoods: Kamilo Nui, in the Hawaii Kai Region of Honolulu
If you follow Hawaii Kai Drive, pats the neighborhoods of Anchorage and Kealaulau, you’ll find Kamilo Nui. This development of 64 large executive homes were built in 2003 to 2004, which makes it a relatively newer neighborhood in Hawaii Kai. Most of these homes were built with central air conditioning and high end appointments. Interior home sizes range from 2,200 to 3,100 square feet. Lot sizes are above average, from 7,800 to 14,000 square feet.
The Upper Kamilo area is a zoned agricultural area and is leased by farmers who have been in the area for over 40 years. Most of the farmers here have a lease to farm the land that expires in 2025. At times this can cause a friction between the farmers and the residents with the lease coming up for renegotiation soon.
