It's about time.

Winter arrives today at 7:22 P.M.in Columbus Ohio.   The Winter Solstice listing in Wikipedia confused me. It says the 2006 Winter Solstice is December 22, 2006.  I went back to check, 0:22 A.M on December 22, 2006 UTC or GMT.

"UTC is Coordinated Universal Time, GMT is Greenwich Mean Time." according to the site with the time converter above.

It's about space.  Today is the shortest day of the year... and the longest night of the year.

Today is National Homeless Persons' Memorial Day"Sponsored by the National Coalition for the Homeless and the National Health Care for the Homeless Council (NHCHC)."

Tom Barlow of Blogging Ohio wrote of recent state legislation. We now has an official amphibian, an official sandwich and today is Homeless Persons' Memorial Day in Ohio:

"The 21st of December is now "Homeless Persons' Memorial Day." Do you suppose there's a connection between our ambivalence about the homeless and the fact that that this falls on the shortest day of the year? I wonder if Hallmark makes a card for this yet."

pssst  Tom...  we'll still get 24 hours... the longest night of the year is the connection... The Longest Night is one of the Winter Solstice celebrations.

Homeless Shelters in Columbus are a great place for a holiday donation, whether you celebrate Christmas, Chanukah, the Winter Solstice, Kwanzaa or another holiday this time of year.

Faith Mission

We do not have snow yet. We are not supposed to have a white Christmas in Columbus.  Good news for the homeless.

Maureen, my broker will not let us decorate, dress, or in any other way celebrate the holidays in front of him. But we had a Winter Solstice party at the model house. Talk about your confussed guests.

Maureen,

I love the winter solstice. It was a beautiful night here in RI this year also. Just wanted to stop by and wish you a Happy Holiday!

Dena: That is odd... maybe to him Winter Solstice is equivalent to "Happy Holiday" or "Seasons Greetings" while "Happy Hanukkah" ( I have trouble spelling) and  "Merry Christmas" are religious.

Karen: We had rain on the Winter Solctice on the 21st  and Rain on Christmas Day... and rain in between. I do celebrate Christmas and I can't believe I did not really get much Christmas on my blog or here...

Well Maureen, We now have your rain! All last night and all day today. What's coming next? It better not be snow. RI has been tropical this year. I think everyone's just real busy. I know I am!

I heard tonight that our next storm is going to be rain too... and he said something about if we don't have snow by the first of the year we won't have a snowy winter....I hope that is the rules.   I don't think we can count on it though.  We will get hit hard in January, or February or March no matter what.  It would be nice to have no snow this winter

Well today was typical New England. We had Sun, Rain, Snow and Hail on and off all day. I'm not looking forward to snow so much as I have to drive around all day in it. Just let me know when you get a big storm, I'm going to prepare myself.
