Reading in the Rain - March Book Selection
Well, hopefully you have all read Ellen's Selection, "The Paris Wife" by now and are ready for the next great book! If you are not currently a member of Reading in the Rain, please join now…. We have a great time and enjoy some wonderful discussions. The more the merrier!
As host for the March Book Club, I decided to go with a Local Author (You know how I love all things local). Here on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina, We are very proud to have the one and only, Nicholas Sparks residing in our beautiful area. His novels are almost always set on the coast of NC, and the book I have chosen takes place in Swansboro, North Carolina.... One of my favorite towns here on the Crystal Coast! Not only is it "local", but one of the main characters is a Great Dane named "Singer"... it's no wonder I chose this one!
From the Front Cover Flap of "The Guardian".....
"Julie Barenson’s young husband left her two unexpected gifts before he died – a puppy named Singer and the promise that he would always be watching over her. Now, four years later, twenty-nine year-old Julie is far too young to have given up on love. She may be ready to risk caring for someone again. But who? Should it be Richard Franklin, the sophisticated, handsome engineer who treats her like a queen? Or Mike Harris, the down-to-earth nice guy who was her husband’s best friend? Choosing one of them should bring her more happiness than she’s had in years. Instead, Julie is soon fighting for her life in a nightmare spawned by a chilling deception and jealousy so poisonous that it has become a murderous desire . . . The Guardian contains all the qualities readers expect from Nicholas Sparks. But here, he adds a new electrifying intensity – and page after page of riveting suspense".
Go ahead and pick up a copy of "The Guardian" and start reading for the March 15th discussion! If it is as good as many other Nicholas Sparks novels I have read, you may finish it quickly. If so, I highly recommend these Nicholas Sparks Novels to fill your time:
- The Notebook
- The Rescue
- Nights in Rodanthe
- A Walk to Remember
- The Last Song
- Dear John
- At First Sight
- True Believer
- The Choice
- A Bend in the Road
- Message in a Bottle
- Safe Haven
There are more, but these are the ones I have read (and seen the movie if available) and enjoyed... More than once!
