Have you heard Willie Nelson’s version of the Coldplay song, “The Scientist?” Willie teamed up with the creator of Chipotle restaurants to help promote responsibility and sustainability in the fast food industry.
Through a vision called “Food with Integrity,” Chipotle’s goal is to provide better food from fresh ingredients. Specifically, ingredients that are sustainably grown and naturally raised with respect for animals, the land and farmers.
Chipotle CEO, and founder, Steve Ellis started his first restaurant with the idea that fast food didn’t have to mean unhealthy food. He also wanted to transform the typical fast food experience into one with a more distinctive atmosphere.
This isn’t a commercial or an endorsement for Chipotle. I rarely eat there, but certainly admire Ellis‘ desire to improve an industry that has, for far too long, promoted unhealthy foods and helped fatten up our nation’s children.
Imagine a world where this type of vision is rewarded and encouraged. The idea of “Back to the Start” might then appeal to all industries. Providing and promoting healthy foods, products and lifestyles should be a priority.
Willie Nelson’s remake of “The Scientist” accompanies a short film called “Back to the Start.” You can download the song from iTunes and proceeds benefit The Chipotle Cultivate Foundation. This short video represents one step in the right direction.

In Clark County, you can also visit Burgerville restaurants. Burgerville follows a similar business model, and practices the same local and sustainable food concepts as the Chipotle chain of restaurants.
