Since I have just gotten my certification and started to market myself, I need to get some hints on what has worked ( or not worked ) for others. I am in Tennessee and so far I have done marketing to local realtors and to manufactured home dealers. I have an e-mail that I send to realtors that has worked very well for me. In fact for every 30 I send out I get a return of 2. This is amazing, they either need more info, asking for help, asking to meet with me, the results have been very good. I would like to hear from others on what you are doing and if you would share some of your secrets...I am in Tennesse so I will not be stepping on anyone toes !!! Do most of you have web sites ? Thanks for all your help !!! I am just 6 months into this and learning something new everyday. Thanks !!!

I have gotten several jobs from joining the local Realtor's Association, and I met my best agent/client going to the weekly networking meetings. Not only do I get a chance every week to meet face-to-face with Realtors, but I am also on the association website and have gotten jobs from that. We also do charity work and my name and company name have received exposure by being written up in newspapers. It's a great way to go, and I have made many new friends too!!!

I have not gotten many jobs from my website (here in Denver, we have many, many stagers) but it's a nice tool to send people to if they want to see a sample of my work. My voicemail directs people to visit there too. That way, if they like what they see, they may not go on calling other stagers.

I'd like to see that email you send out too!!! That's a great return!!!

I think that you are on the right track! There are so many helpful people here in the rain. I make sure to read the blogs on marketing & of course all of the responses. I think some of the most helpful ideas come from the responders!!

Mary Lou: In this day and age, you absolutely must have a website or you will not be taken seriously. Also, blogging about staging here on AR will up your SEO so more people will find you when they google home stagers for your area. Make sure you have a complete profile filled out here on AR and on the website for your staging training association. And do join RESA. It will look good on your profile to say you are a member, you will learn a lot, get great RESA discounts. Also, you will be listed in the RESA directory which is just one more chance for you to be found when someone does a search.

Michelle, How do I join RESA ? What is their web site ? I am in the process of getting my web site started, cost is a big factor here, any ideas on that ? Someone has told me of different cost effective companies that design web sites, who do you use ?

Your bloggers have some great ideas. Launching a press release after the first of the year would help jumpstart your business. I am adding several home staging services to my business as well. Also, one thing that I am doing, is offering (free of charge )2 project homes to stage just to get the public looking at my work. I will offer a real estate enhancement for a realtor and a interior redesign for a home owner. Take before and and photos. And offer them to your clients as a marketing tool for you and them. Since times are slow you have to have faith that what your doing will work. So explore all avenues. I found a quote that inspires me that I am going to add to my site.
