Now that we have Valentine’s Day behind us, the chocolates are eaten and the red roses are fading you might like to know the recent results of research done by Amazon.com. Using sales data, a list of the top 20 most romantic US cities was compiled and Florida had 5 (more than any other state).  Although I love to see my state coming in on top I have to say some of the criteria was a little less then convincing i.e., highest sales of romance novels, relationship books,  romantic comedy DVDs  and get this, sales of Barry White CDs.  Come on, Barry White CDs? I always thought that women who read romance novels did so because they did not have romance in their lives. Relationship books, who buys books on how to improve your relationship if your relationship is not troubled?  Kind of like if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

The Florida cities making the top 20 list were Orlando, Miami, Clearwater, Gainesville and Tallahassee. Only cities of more than 100,000 residents were analyzed otherwise I am sure Key West would have been on it.

Guess what US city was the number one romantic city??? You guessed it, Knoxville Tennessee (what?). The lease romantic city was New York, now that one makes sense. I don’t think anyone listens to Barry White there.
