Today looking for recent news about the softening market in the DC area was a tad depressing, as we all know we are well into the current slump here, and it looks like we are probably still heading downward for another nine months or so.
But my interest was piqued when I came across a page hosted on the Washington Post website that lets you "see" what is available or happening in a neighborhood. For example, for the Kensington 20895 zip code you can use the "Places in the Area" tab to see where grocery stores, pharmacies, libraries, movie theaters, restaurants and more are located. There are also tabs for "Recent Home Sales," "Schools," and "Crime." It is interesting to see all these facts listed on a map. If you click on one of the markers, you get further information and when possible, links to other websites. Try out the site for yourself @ http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/local-explorer/index.html
