It's that time of year again, time to start working on Christmas cards...we received our first one on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.  So I went Christmas card shopping today and will be slowly addressing our cards.

Our troops give up so much of themselves and ask so little in return.  Many come back injured and spend time in the hospital and rehab...lets remember them with a Christmas card.   When you are making out your Christmas card list this year, please include the following:

          A Recovering American Soldier
c/o Walter Reed Army Medical  Center
          6900 Georgia Avenue,NW
          Washington,D.C. 20307-5001

Mary - Thanks for the reminder.  I'll be sending out Holiday cards to several soldiers this year.

Mary,  Thanks for the prompt.  Looks like NEXT Christmas we will be sending cards and care packages to our own soldier.  They are scheduled to be deployed next September.  This will be his second tour of duty in Iraq.  he is supportive of the war efforts and happy to serve.  What a guy!

Mary, thanks for the post.  We need to keep them in our thoughts and prayers always, and a little extra effort on the holidays is important.  Great idea

Mary, that is a great idea!  I can't imagine the delight they'd get from getting these.

Mary,

There are some great E-cards that can be sent as well.  Just an FYI for those who have loved ones or have email addresses of the troops abroad.

That is an excellent idea Mary.  There is a member of my church that just got back from Walter Reed.  He said the morale was a little low.  Away from home... holiday time... missing family... a card of encouragement could be a good pick me up for them!!

Our troops have given so much for us what a great reminder to give back to them; especially those injured.

I agree with you on this. It would be such a small thing for us to do which would be a big smile to the face of an American Soldier.

Thank you for the wonderful reminder Mary.  I love the idea of giving back to our soldiers.  What angels they are in our lives.

Thanks for sharing this address, Mary! Can you imagine the impact it would have if every Rainer sent just one card?? :)

Mary-That is my holiday project this year.  I went through adoptaplatoon.com.  I feel honored and so grateful for our troops.  What a great thing to do and mention to everyone!

This is a good idea.  Many of us will be putting out cards -- only takes a moment and 42 cents postage.  Thanks for sharing!

Mary, Thanks for sharing this address. I'll be sure to send a few cards to our service men and women at Walter Reed.

This is such a wonderful expression to our Servicemen and Women.

I didn't know there was such an address - Thanks! For the past 5 years, what I was doing was taking 50 cards down to the VA Hospital and giving them to the nursing staff, telling them to hand them out to VA's that didn't have family or hadn't gotten any cards.

ALL - I hate to be the bearer of bad news but last night on the news I heard a quick clip that Walter Reed is NOT able to take items which are not addressed to specific individuals.  Apparently this idea has gotten around the internet and the hospital is getting flooded.

Reminds me of the kid with cancer who is probably still getting cards even today.

SORRY!!
