Let's welcome Mike Sherman back to the Aggie family as the new head coach for Texas A&M.  Sherman is the 28th head coach in Texas A&M history. It sure didn't take long to find a replacement for Coach Fran.  Let's hope Sherman can make us the national powerhouse that we should be!

Mike Sherman has been with the Houston Texans as the offensive coordinator and was the Green Bay Packers coach from 2000-2005.  Sherman does have Aggie connections.  Sherman was the school's offensive line coach from 1989 to 1993. He left A&M for a one-year stint with UCLA then came back to coach the Aggies' linemen in 1995 and 1996.

I think this is a good pick but only time will tell!!

Hi Linda,

You bet me to it.  Thanks for writing the post.  Coaches are always under so much pressure to make wining teams.  Seems we have some good players for next year. McGee is great. Gig 'em.

Yes, time will tell. You guys have recruited some pretty good talent. I would like to see you guys beating up on texass more often.

Kay - I agree McGee is great.  And after the game against Texas it really proves he can throw the ball!

Tom - I hope we can beat up on t.u. even more.  Then the big showdown with OU and A&M would really mean something!  Good Luck in the Big 12 Championship.

Sherman only had one losing season in Green Bay and won 60% overall....if he has someone to coach the defense, he should be extremely succesful.

I feel good about this new selection.  Let's all cross our fingers and back him.

My brother played football for the Aggies in the early 80's and one of his best friends on the team was Randy Rother(yes related to Rother's bookstores) and Randy is really good friends with Mike Sherman.  He is excited for Mike and he said Mike is a really good guy and will be good for our offensive.  I hope that is true!

Linda, good luck with your new coach, my team the Arizona State Sun Devils went through this last year and it was the best decision the program made in a long time.  Congratulations.
